Zimbabwe players decide to play Tests against Pakistan
As reported by ESPN Cricinfo, Zimbabwe cricketers have finally decided to play Test matches against Pakistan.
Earlier, the players were protesting against late payments, and had set Zimbabwe Cricket a Monday deadline to transfer the money to their accounts. Although they have not received the money yet, team captain Brendan Taylor mentioned that they would take Zimbabwe Cricket’s word that they would be paid their dues before the second Test starts.
The only Zimbabwe player who has refused to play the first Test is Sean Williams, who decided he would not play unless he was paid. A source at ZC said the board was working with its bankers to ensure that the players receive their due payments at the earliest.
Other than Williams, the only Zimbabwe player to miss Monday’s training session was Taylor. He is on paternity leave. He was expecting the birth of his son on Monday.
