Zimbabwe vs India 2016 Second ODI: Preview, Telecast Channel, Timings, Where to watch live streaming online
India kicked off their limited-overs tour of Zimbabwe with a win thanks KL Rahul's century on his ODI debut and they will looking to clinch the series when they meet again in Harare. The young Indian side led by MS Dhoni dominated the contest ever since they won the toss and having bowled out the hosts for 168, they chased it down with 45 balls to spare.
The century from Rahul and fifty from Ambati Rayudu, who crossed 1000 ODI runs for India in the process, helped them chase. But it was the efforts of Jasprit Bumrah that ensured there was only a small total for the visitors. The Mumbai Indians fast bowler picked up four wickets and made the job for the batsman a lot easier.
Barinder Sran and Dhawal Kulkarni picked up wickets with the new ball while Yuzvendra Chahal continued his golden run in 2016 with a tight spell and a wicket on his debut. However, the undeniable star of the bowling attack was Bumrah, who finished with figures of 9.5-2-28-4.
The hosts' top order didn't provide much resistance as MS Dhoni's young side had an easy time as the batsmen seemed more intent on occupying the crease rather than scoring runs. The fact that only one batsman had a strike rate in excess of 75 merely highlights that. And when your top-scorer is your No.7 with 41, you know you had a bad day at the office.
With not much runs to defend, the bowlers had their work cut out but Tendai Chatara still looked impressive but ultimately they were unable to do anything as they lost by 9 wickets.
Interim coach Makhaya Ntini will need to come up with a better plan if the hosts are to trouble the visitors. Should India win the second match, they will clinch the series and will be well on their towards repeating their whitewash from a year ago.
Having had a wonderful start to his ODI career, Rahul will be hoping to continue that while Karun Nair, who missed out in the first match will be looking to cash in. The latter will have to be mindful of the fact that there are still more players waiting on the wings and the management might provide them an opportunity sooner rather than later.
