Esow Alban wins two gold medals at 2018 Asian Track Championship

Esow Alban, the cycling sensation from India, has bagged one individual gold medal and one team gold medal at the 2018 Asian Track Cycling Championship.

At the ongoing tournament, Chinchakhandi Danamma won a bronze medal as she finished with seven points in the final of Women Junior Points Race. Mayuri Luthe missed a medal by just a few seconds as she finished fourth clocking 36.612 in the 500m Time Trial Junior Women's event.
The heart of the matter
The ongoing 38th edition of 2018 Asian Track Cycling Championship, which commenced on 16th February and will end on 20th February, is taking place in Nilai, Malaysia.
Mayur Pawar, Esow Alban and James Singh won a gold medal as they defeated Japan in the final of the Junior Team Sprint. The Indian team finished with a time of 46.070 to beat Japan's excellent time of 46.125. Earlier, the three of them finished second with a timing of 46.395 and qualified for the final of the Junior Team Sprint.
Esow followed the team gold with an individual gold the next day as he won the gold in KEIRIN- Men Junior event as he clocked 10.989 after he clocked an excellent 10.549 in the semi-final of the same event.
Esow's team-mate in the Junior Team Sprint, Mayur Pawar finished fourth, thus missing out on another medal in KEIRIN- Men Junior as he clocked a time of 11.009.

Hopefully, India will be able to win more medals at the ongoing Asian Track Championship which still have has more days of action.

It is very exciting to see a young athlete succeed at a sport in which India doesn't have a good past record. Hopefully, he will be able to keep up his performances and win more medals in the future.
