CM Punk to be a part of WWE 2K15 in '2K Showcase mode'
In what will be a welcome news for all WWE gamers worldwide, CM Punk will be a part of this year’s edition after so much of speculation and confusion surrounding the roster. And suprisingly he has a huge part to play in this year’s edition. He will be featuring alongside John Cena, ‘Hall of Famer’ Shawn Michaels and Triple H as part of the 2K Showcase mode. This mode focusses on two of the biggest rivalries in recent years. One is the famous Triple H – HBK rivalry of 2002-2004 and the other is the one involving Punk and Cena of 2011-2013.
Overall, the gamers will be able to play 33 matches across the rivalries and Triple H expressed his delight at this. “Featuring two of the biggest rivalries in WWE history, including my storied matches with Shawn Michaels, there’s no doubt fans will experience the thrill first-hand through WWE 2K15,” he said. Fans are all set to enjoy some new modes in the game and like in previous editions, they can also unlock some superstars.
For fans who have been following WWE for more than a decade, they clearly know about the iconic match between HHH and HBK at Summerslam in 2002. And now you get to relive the same with WWE 2K’s latest edition. Also the Punk-Cena epic from the 2011 Money In The Bank is included. For both these rivalries, fans will be provided with real-life footages. When asked about Punk’s presence in the game, WWE executive director Mark Little spoke candidly. “Each year we try and create the best WWE 2K roster possible and even though CM Punk is not currently appearing on WWE programming we’re really happy that we’re able to still provide for everybody this rivalry against John Cena and CM Punk as part of 2K15,” he said. “As much in the same way that Shawn [Michaels] currently isn’t active for the WWE either, but he’s still able to be part of WWE 2K15 because the WWE universe extends through all of the time and history of the company. One of the great things about being able to do the 2K Showcase and look backwards at some of these previous rivalries is to be able to share with the WWE universe all the people that might not be on current programming."
Shawn Michaels on his part had a lot of praise for this year’s edition. “I don’t think in all the 25 years that I wrestled, I don’t think I’ve ever been in front of more cameras at one time,” he said. “I sat in front of more cameras in that one session capturing literally every wrinkle in my face, which may not be great, but the graphics have gotta be amazing in this game because the setup that they had for me when I went down was fantastic.”
With the game set to be released shortly, fans can expect a lot more in the coming days.
