5 biggest changes to Overpass in CS2 (November 14 update)
During the recent major patch, Overpass in CS2 has received major visual and performance updates. This update arrived on November 14, 2024, alongside the return of the Train map, which was highly anticipated for months. Despite a ton of changes, Overpass is still not part of the active map pool for Premier game mode yet.
Here are the five biggest changes to Overpass in Counter-Strike 2.

Biggest changes to Overpass in CS2
1) Performance improvements
Several players have complained about major FPS drops and stutters on Overpass in CS2, especially in the canals. Valve has finally acknowledged this issue after months of constant complaints, and they claim the performance issues related to this map are fixed.
If you are still facing stutters or other issues, try reinstalling the game and verify the integrity of files from Steam settings. A 4:3 aspect ratio with lower 3D resolution can improve the game drastically.

2) B-site changes
A lot of changes seem to be made for the B-site, which aim to improve both performance and player movements. Here are the updates on the B-site of Overpass in CS2:
- Removal of handcart behind barrels in B-site so that players can go further in the corner to hide.
- The pixelated and bugged graffiti renders have been fixed.
- Concrete blocks behind the cement's backs have been removed as they unnecessarily interfered with player movements.
3) Lighting improvements
The lighting has been a big issue for many players on this map. Here are all the changes related to the lighting made:
- Decreased fog to improve player visibility at a distance.
- Some windows have been replaced with opaque surfaces.
- Barrels now have added light behind them to prevent camouflaging players.
- The lights in heaven are adjusted to make players brighter and reduce unintended noise.
4) Object adjustments
Various objects have been removed or adjusted to improve the line of sight and eliminate any confusion. Here are some of the best changes done:
- One of the crate lids from the A-side has been removed.
- The shelf in heaven does not look like a player's shadow anymore.
- The fence in the alley has been removed as it made distant players really hard to see.
- The lamps at the A-side have been removed, as many players used to complain that they look like players heads.

5) Collision adjustments
One of the biggest issues of Overpass in CS2 was the inconsistent collisions of barrels and walls. It often happens that half of the bullets do not pass through the barrels. The wall bang had some bugs too, where sometimes, players received full damage while other times barely any damaged was dealt.
The new update seems to fix this issue and the inconsistency of wall bang collisions. If there are still bugs found by players, we can expect to receive a quick fix for them soon as well.
Can you play Overpass in CS2 Premier?
Unfortunately, Overpass in CS2 is still not part of the active map pool. It was replaced by Dust II on April 26, 2024, and is only playable in Casual, Competitive, and Deathmatch for now. For those who are new to the game Competitive is different from Premier and does not have an ELO rating.
We can expect the addition of Overpass in CS2 active map pool after the Perfect World Shanghai Major concludes, alongside Train. However, this is only speculation, and readers are advised to await for official confirmation.
