6 must-try heroes in Overwatch 2 Classic mode
Overwatch 2 Classic mode is set to arrive on November 12, 2024, and with it, the original heroes. The mode takes you back to patch 1.0, released in May 2016 which implies that all the characters also regain their abilities from that patch. The Classic mode event will last for three weeks where Hero limits are off for a few initial days. This means you can freely pick six Genjis for your team.
Regardless, the Overwatch 2 classic mode will have 21 heroes to choose from and this article will help you pick six of the best for the specific event.

Six heroes you must try for Overwatch 2 Classic mode
Overwatch 2 Classic mode will allow players to enjoy the glory of the first iteration along with the heroes' previous versions. That said, here are six of the best heroes you need to play during the event.
1) Symmetra
Symmetra will be one of the most important Support heroes in Overwatch 2's Classic mode. Her teleporter will regain the ability to allow quick travel over longer distances, which means you can take your teammates from the spawn directly back to the frontlines.
Her abilities will become useful even while securing a payload as she can place all three turrets on it. This further helps keep the payload secure and harms enemies trying to get in the way.
2) Reaper
Reaper will regain the previous strength of The Reaping ability. Every time he downs an enemy, they will drop soul orbs which Reaper can pick up to regain 50 Health Points. This is a great advantage for an already powerful Hero and can help take the edge off your support Heroes in Overwatch 2 Classic mode.
However, be careful as you won't be able to cancel Reaper's ultimate early during the Classic mode.
3) Zarya
Zarya will have separate cooldowns for her Particle and Projected Barriers. While this can be a slight drawback, her ability to draw energy from these abilities will be greatly multiplied as per patch 1.0 of Overwatch. This can make all the difference in gameplay and establish Zarya as an offensive Tank.
The gameplay may feel different but she can become dominant due to the increased energy gain, making your matches all the more interesting in Overwatch 2 Classic mode.
4) Torbjorn
Torbjorn is one of the most exciting heroes to play in Overwatch 2 Classic mode. This is because you can now pick up scraps from fallen allies and enemies to deploy Armor Packs that can be used by your or your allies for additional Armor HP.
Furthermore, you can deploy a level 1 turret and gradually upgrade it to level 2 using your Forge Hammer or level 3 by activating your Molten Core ultimate. At level 3, the turret rapidly fires missiles, causing significant damage and making it easier to secure a zone.
5) Mei
Mei's Endothermic Blaster can quickly freeze individual opponents after which you can finish them off using the alternate fire. This is a rather exciting detail but perhaps more interesting is her Ice Wall, where each piller will now have 500 HP making Mei's defense stronger.
6) Mercy
Mercy is your must-have support hero during any Overwatch 2 Classic mode matchup. Her ultimate can resurrect up to five fallen allies at once as long as they are in range. Furthermore, if your team consists of multiple Mercy players, the damage boost can also be multiplied.
These are the six must-try heroes in Overwatch 2 Classic mode. Since you can have multiple players picking the same character, try different compositions such as having two Reinhardts or three Reapers in Overwatch 2 Season 13.
