7 best mods for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
As of October 2024, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero has around 110 mods already available for players to pick out on Nexus Mods. Whether you want to improve the performance on PC, change character skins/cosmetics, or improve the music of Bandai Namco’s hit Dragon Ball game, the choice is yours. We’ve gone through the list and picked out some of our absolute favorite ones.
Using these mods is completely optional, and so far, there’s been no word of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero players being banned or receiving penalties for using them. However, if you want to adjust the game in a variety of ways, here’s how you can do that.

Best mods to try out in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
1) Low End PC Optimization Like PS4 (Performance)
Not everyone who owns Dragon Ball Sparking Zero on PC has a powerful machine - so this mod (and several like it) addresses that. This particular one is for low-end PCs that want to play the game as smoothly as possible. The goal was to maintain solid performance with good visuals.
The developer of the mod designed it using Unreal Engine code to make the game run well without sacrificing quality. In fact, it really does look like the game is running on a PS4 in the screenshots provided.

2) Dragon Ball Super Trunks with Purple Hair (Character cosmetic)
In many of the early illustrations for Bulma, she had purple hair. As a result, Trunks wound up having that same hair color. In Dragon Ball Super, his hair was changed to blue, because Toei wanted him to have the same shade as his mother. However, some people prefer the classic purple, and PurpleHato delivered.
This is a very simple Dragon Ball Sparking Zero mod that gives Trunks purple hair both in-game and in his character-select portrait in Dragon Ball Super.

3) Anime Graphics (Visual overhaul)
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is a visually stunning game, as we denoted in our review. Every character looks exactly like they did in the series/films. However, some people have decided to adjust the graphics a bit, to change the shading.
This mod gives the game a shading style that reflects the Dragon Ball Z/Super anime better, and it makes the already beautiful graphics pop off the screen even more. This is a mod that will probably find its way onto my copy of the game.

4) Almost Complete Japanese Anime Soundtrack Overhaul (OST Overhaul)
Though the early DLC for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero improved the music of the game a bit, there’s still some work to be done. This mod replaces most of the tracks from the game with the original work by Shunske Kikuchi from the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball movies. It also has some of Norihito Sumitomo’s work in Super, and a few of the Kenji Yamamoto tracks from Dragon Ball Z Kai.
The developer of this mod, DaisukeFlo, added 78 tracks to the game, with some variants, and stated it's still very much a work in progress. The mod list shows a massive amount of tracks, with many of my personal favorites on it.

5) Luffy Gear 5 on Piccolo/Nail (Character cosmetic)
There are quite a few character change mods for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero including CJ from GTA. However, I wanted to pick one that wouldn’t be too out of place. Why not a familiar anime like One Piece? Gear 5 Luffy is the perfect addition, and through this mod, replaces both Piccolo and Nail.
The mod looks amazing and is a great representation of what Luffy would look like in a game like Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

6) Character Selection Screen Revamped (Visual overhaul)
Some people in the Dragon Ball Sparking Zero fanbase aren’t crazy about the images in the character select screen, thinking they look a bit low-resolution. This mod completely changes them, for all 182 characters available in the game.
This mod uses the high-definition art for all the characters in the game, that, for whatever reason, weren’t used for the character select screen.

7) Pinnacle of Power (Visual overhaul)
From an aesthetic perspective, Pinnacle of Power is my favorite Dragon Ball Sparking Zero mod. It’s just a neat cosmetic flag that toggles the “ALWAYS AURA” flag for certain, powerful characters. This is what you see on Ultra Instinct Goku and Full Power Jiren, for example.
With this mod, every character powerful enough to have their aura constantly flowing around them will have it, making the battles look more epic. It doesn’t change gameplay but makes it look closer to the anime.
