CS2 community reacts to Valve teasing Train once again

The CS2 community has been anticipating the return of Train ever since the game was released in September 2023. This anticipation was fueled by the fact that the map was briefly spotted in an early release trailer. Eventually, on November 13, 2024, the official CS2 X handle announced the arrival of a new patch with a caption that made fans believe Valve was teasing the map's return yet again.

Popular content creator @ThourCS2 took to their X handle to point out how the official CS2 X post was intentionally cryptic.

The first letter of each word in the sentence forms the word Train. Another user, @LionHeartz1337, connected the dots further speculating that perhaps the map is on its way to CS2 after all as they said:

"I mean its also a double hint right because "arriving in notes" is like a train arriving at the station"

X user @PraneethDilru seemed completely convinced that the map was coming to the game for good. However, Valve has yet to confirm its arrival, and there is nothing that hints at Train's inclusion in the coming months.

Meanwhile, @Jebus3211 believed that the map could be released as part of a Half-Life 2 20th anniversary celebration event. The title was released on November 16, 2004, and will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in a couple of days.

"You ready for some weapons grade copium. Train drops as part of the 20 years hl2 celebrations just to fuck with everyone."

Finally, @Whypee03 seemed worried about Valve not using this opportunity to bring back Train. Instead, the user believed, the developer could release a whole new map and completely disregard the popular one.

Train was first spotted in the Leveling Up The World trailer released by Valve in March 2023. This was one of the many promotional clips that dropped before the release of Counter-Strike 2. Soon enough, fans began speculating about cryptic X posts that might suggest the map's return to Valve's popular shooter.

For instance, the official CS2 X page recently tweeted the following:

"Release notes are back and better than ever! Check them out"

According to some fans, the wording used in this tweet is exactly the same as when Valve announced a revamped Train map for CS:GO. Although one might feel that this is a bit of a reach, many fans believe that the map will be returning soon. This belief grew even stronger after popular Valve source, Gabe Follower revealed that the map was already included in the game's source code.

It is also possible that Train could get a remake ahead of its release in the game.
