CS2 Train lineup guide: Best smokes, flashes, and more

Figuring out the best lineups for CS2 Train could be quite challenging for the majority of the players, considering the iconic map has just been added to the game with the latest major patch on November 14, 2024. Train was previously removed from the active map pool of CS: GO in May 2021, and replaced by Ancient. However, it has now finally been added to CS2. It should be noted that the map is still not available in the Premier mode, but can be played in Deathmatch, Casual, and Competitive.

CS2 Train features a revamped version of the original map, with improved visuals, minor adjustments, and some nostalgic easter eggs. Considering the significant difference between the movement and mechanics of CS: GO and CS2, most of the old-school lineups would not work. This is why Valve has added a map guide feature that can help you learn the new lineups quickly.

On that note, here's a complete CS2 Train lineup guide for the players.

Note: This article will be updated as soon as more information is revealed.

Best CS2 Train lineups

1) CS2 Train smoke "Ivy" lineup

In the map guide feature, the game teaches you two of the most popular A site entry smokes known as the Ivy smoke. These lineups are great for a full-stack push from outside A. Here's how to throw the first smoke:

  • From the T-spawn, go near the train and stand next to the second last iron pole.
  • Look at the edge of the closed wooden window of the white building.
  • Move your crosshair up till you reach the edge of the roof, and do a jump throw.

Here's how to throw the second smoke:

  • Maintain the same positioning and start moving your mouse slightly to the left.
  • Move the crosshair slightly down so that it is touching both the roof of the white building and the pipeline of the blue building and do a jump throw again.

2) CS2 Train smoke "Z" lineup

This next lineup helps block the second entrance for CT at the A-side. This one can also be executed directly from the T-spawn. Here's how to throw it:

  • Stand in front of the green train engine. Using the grenade lineup helper, align the -2x mark at the pipeline of the left side white building.
  • Move the crosshair up until it reaches the edge and then jump throw.

3) Best CS2 Train default flash for CT

This is a step-wise guide to do an easy flash to T-side from B:

  • Climb the left-side stairs that lead to a door that can not be accessed.
  • Look at the direction from where terrorists will be entering.
  • Put your crosshair on the top right edge of the blue train compartment.
  • Do a normal throw. A jump throw can result in blinding the allies too.

This basic lineup will not blind your teammates and is capable of holding an aggressive push. Later, the other players can use Molotovs and smoke grenades to further support you.

4) A-site entrance lineup for terrorists

While entering the A site, you can easily block the CT backup to enter by using the following Molotov lineups:

  • From A main, stand at the left side of the entrance.
  • Move your crosshair up until you touch the light right above the red train compartment.
  • Make a normal throw and quickly acquire another molly from your teammate.
  • At the same height, keep moving left until you reach the middle point of the large window right above the CCTV cameras, and make another normal throw.

These Molotovs will block both the Z-connector as well as Old Bomb locations. However, you will still be vulnerable to the leftmost opening known as Hell.

These are some of the best CS2 Train lineups for now. As more players start to play this map, we will discover more interesting lineups for all sorts of throwables. Considering that, this list is subject to change.
