Deadlock Lanes explained: Everything you should know
Deadlock Lanes play an important role in the gameplay, shaping each team’s strategy, map control, and win potential. These color-coded Lanes serve as the battlegrounds where players fight to dominate areas of the map. Each Lane impacts the game's flow, and understanding how they work could be complicated for a new player.
On that note, this article will cover everything you need to know about the Deadlock Lanes and how they work.
Everything about Deadlock Lanes
There are four Lanes in Deadlock, each with a specific color on the map: York Avenue (Yellow Lane), Greenwich Street (Green Lane), Broadway (Blue Lane), and Park Avenue (Purple Lane). There are six players in each team. One player goes to the leftmost Yellow Lane, the Green and Blue Lanes in the middle get two players each, and the remaining player takes the rightmost Blue Lane.
Understanding the Transit Lines
At the start of the match, you enter the battlefield using a Zipline (aka Transit Line) that follows the path of your assigned Lane. You can only travel as far along the Lane as is under your team's control. Additionally, if you are taking damage from your opponents, you can not immediately capture the Zipline and fall back; there's a cooldown of 3 seconds.
During an emergency, you can use the Boost Zipline feature, which significantly increases your travel speed and heals you. However, it comes with a 340-second cooldown period.
Moreover, once a Base Guardian is destroyed, the corresponding Lane's Zipline gets the boost permanently applied to it. Base Guardian is the final line of defense on both sides; they are similar to the normal Guardian NPC but come in a pair.

Lane pushing
Each side only advances in the Deadlock Lanes when the small NPCs called Minions are able to move forward. The team with more Minions alive will have further Lane control than the other. New Minions are spawned every 30 seconds. You must strategically support your Minions and clear out the opponents to maintain steady progress.
Though Minions do not deal much damage, a lot of them together could be overwhelming and help keep a player distracted. Moreover, eliminating them grants you Souls that can be used in The Curiosity Shop to buy items.
Tips to dominate a Deadlock Lane
Here are some tips to take control of Deadlock Lanes and lead your team to victory:
- Prioritise Minion waves: Coordinate attacks that support your Minions and help them stay alive for steady advancement.
- Leverage Ziplines: Whenever you are low on health and have enough space, use the Zipline to go back to the spawn and get a quick heal. Constantly use the Zipline Boost feature when it's required.
- Help your teammates: You can change Lanes anytime you want. If you have completed important objectives in your Lane, you should help other teammates take control of theirs.
