"I don’t think I’ll use myself in the game" - Tottenham ace Dele Alli left fuming by FIFA 18 ratings

What's the story?

Continuing the trend of being unhappy with one's FIFA 18 rating, Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has declared that he will not play the game as his avatar until his rating has increased.

Alli is widely touted to be one of England's rising stars and he feels that an 84 rating is an insult to a player of his talent. The Englishman is upset despite the fact that he is rated the same as the likes of Sadio Mane and Sami Khedira. The 21-year-old said: “To be honest I don’t think I’ll use myself in the game because I don’t think my rating is very good. I’m going to refuse to play with myself until I’m a little bit more realistic!

In case you didn't know...

Regardless of the 84 rating, the youngster still features in the top 100 players. Alli has won the PFA Young Player of the Year Award for the last two seasons. He has also scored 30 goals in 75 appearances for Tottenham. When he was featured in the promotional video for FIFA 18, he was asked what rating he would like and he replied that he would like an 85 or 86 rating.

The heart of the matter

Alli was outraged by the snub and his 84 rating sees him as far down as 29th among the other Premier League players. So Alli has declared once and for all that he will not play the game using his own avatar until there is a significant improvement in the rating.

What's next?

As has been mentioned several times, Alli is not alone in his complaints. He has found support in Benjamin Mendy and Michy Batshuayi. Now, Arsenal winger Alex Iwobi has also joined the club. But Iwobi understood the reason behind the low rating and attributed it to not getting much game time in the past 12 months.

Author's Take

While we understand their concerns, it is worth noting that the game is releasing in less than a week so there is not much scope of changing the original card's stats. But Alli, Mendy, Batshuayi and Iwobi can take comfort in the fact that there is a chance that they could be featured in the Team of the Week and other such perks.
