Dragon Age The Veilguard: Should you fight, save, or trick Solas in the finale

Dragon Age The Veilguard is a game that heavily relies on the choices that you make. Depending on these choices, the ending varies. So, it is important to make wise choices if you wish to get the intended ending. This is also true when you encounter the critical choice of fighting, saving, or tricking Solas at the endgame.

Solas, who is the antagonist in Dragon Age The Veilguard wants to destroy the Veil. However, it is up to you to decide what ending you want for Solas and for the game. This guide will delve into all three of the critical choices and their consequences to help you decide what option to choose.

Dragon Age The Veilguard: Critical choice in the finale

When you face Solas in Dragon Age The Veilguard for the last time, you will be presented with three choices to make:

  • “Let’s try this your way.” - Trick Solas with the fake dagger.
  • “But I want to fight you.” - Fight Solas and bind him to the Veil.
  • “You don’t have to do this.” - Use Mythal’s essence to convince and stop Solas.

Think twice, or for safety, keep a save file right before selecting any of these options as the choice will directly impact the ending that you get in Dragon Age Veilguard. With that being said, let's take a look at the consequences of each of these choices.

1) “Let’s try this your way.” - Tricking Solas

If you choose the "Let's try this your way" option in Dragon Age The Veilguard, you will use a fake dagger to manipulate Solas into using it instead of the real one. What this will do is simply bind Solas into the Veil as Rook will cut his palm to get the blood on the original dagger, and then push him inside the Veil.

2) “But I want to fight you.” - Fighting Solas

Choose "But I want to fight you" to start the battle. Long story short, Rook and his party will be finally able to kill Solas with the Lyrium Dagger. However, this will bring the story to a quick end.

3) “You don’t have to do this.” - Saving Solas

To get this option, it is mandatory to complete several other steps during the game. Rook will have to convince Mythal to lend her essence, and Morrigan and the Inquisitor will also arrive. It will be Morrigan, who will call Mythal.

Solas will sacrifice himself after Mythal frees Solas of his duties. This will be the secret ending of Dragon Age Veilguard, which also happens to be the true ending of all the endings in Dragon Age The Veilguard.
