Dragon Age The Veilguard walkthrough: How to complete the Gate of Parched Hopes quest

The Gate of Parched Hopes is one of the many corrupted gates in the Crossroads region of Dragon Age The Veilguard. Like the other gateways, you will need a Champion's Essence to unlock the area beyond. The Gate of Parched Hopes in Dragon Age The Veilguard is also tied to the Heart of Corruption side quest that the Caretaker will assign when you reach the Crossroads for the first time.

This article will go over the locations of the champion of the Gate of Parched Hopes and provide a brief overview of the fight that awaits you in Dragon Age The Veilguard.

Guide to unlocking the Gate of Parched Hopes in Dragon Age The Veilguard

The Gate of Parched Hopes can be found in the Elvenhan's Haven Island of the Crossroads and guards the way to the Revenant Champion, Slaughter of the Pillars. You will pick up the quest for this gate once you approach it while exploring the island. Like the other blighted gates, you must obtain a Champion's Essence to unlock it.

While you may pick up the Gate of Parched Hopes quest early on, wait until you unlock the Eluvian to Hossberg Wetlands to gain the Champion's Essence.

Once you're in the Hossberg Wetlands, first complete the Something Wrong main quest to clear blight from the area. After that, head to the marked location where you will find the area surrounded by various darkspawns. Clear them out and attack the Blight Cyst in the middle to summon the champion, Disciple-in-Ichor.

How to defeat the Disciple-in-Ichor

The Disciple-in-Ichor is a Level 30 armored brute resistant to Necrotic attacks but takes increased damage from fire. Bring characters like Davrin or Taash in this fight as they have fire-based abilities in their kit. Despite its hulking size, the boss is extremely fast and can hit like a truck.

It has a blast attack where it will lock itself to the ground before sending out a giant explosion, it also jumps to deal high damage. Keep an eye out for these two attacks and make sure to dodge them.

The best way to defeat the boss is by building affliction stacks and using charged attacks to get rid of its shields. Disciple-in-Ichor will often summon mobs, but instead of targetting them, focus on the boss itself to quickly chip it down.

After you take down the Disciple-in-Ichor, you can take its essence back to the Gate of Parched Hopes in Dragon Age the Veilguard to unlock the area beyond.
