FIFA 15 - Best left backs

Unfortunately, Cole doesn’t make the cut this time after topping the list in FIFA 14

None of FIFA 15’s best left backs are rated even close to 85 this time around. In FIFA 14, we had Ashley Cole rated at 85, and he was by far the highest rated player in his position in the game. But this time though, he completely drops out of the top 5 as his rating (81) takes a beating. So, here’s the top 5 list:

#5. Jordi Alba (Barcelona) – Rating (81)

Jordi Alba drops one point to be rated 81 in FIFA 15 and is at the fifth spot. He had a decent season with Barcelona as his side failed to win the La liga and the Champions League. And on top of that, Spain crashed out in the first round of the World Cup. With age on his side, Alba would look to improve this season and you can do the same in the game. At the age of 25, there is only one direction he would be heading to and that is also the reason why he has been preferred to Ashley Cole who is also rated the same in the game.

#4. Leighton Baines (Everton) – Rating (82)

Baines has decided to stay at Everton after so much of transfer speculation surrounding him. He is now England’s first choice left back and is also a terrific set piece specialist. Time and time again, we have seen him deliver some excellent crosses and score some stunning free kicks and not to forget his accurate penalties. Baines will be 30 years old in the first season of career mode, so the gamers cannot expect him to keep improving in the following seasons.

#3. Filipe Luis (Chelsea) – Rating (82)

You won’t be able to tempt Luis out of Chelsea in your first season in career mode as he would have just arrived at the English club. In that case, it’s better not to go for him again as he will enter his 30’s and will start declining slowly and won’t improve. But in case, you are playing with Chelsea, then you are really lucky as you will be having access to one of the best left backs in the game. He can also at times run all the way forward and deliver some excellent crosses.

#2. Marcelo (Real Madrid) – Rating (82)

Marcelo was the second highest rated left back in the game in FIFA 14, and he retains the spot this time too. Even though they are all rated 82, the rankings are purely based on how long they can sustain this level in the career mode when you play with them. And that’s the reason, the likes of Baines and Luis are ranked below Real’s first choice LB. He is not being considered for national duty after Brazil’s humiliating loss to Germany at home during the World Cup, but you can help him regain his spot in the virtual world.

#1. David Alaba (Bayern Munich) – Rating (82)

David Alaba’s rise on this list has been phenomenal. The young Austrian didn’t make the cut in FIFA 14, but has jumped all the way up to the top spot this year after some impressive performances for Bayern Munich last season which helped them regain their league title. In terms of ratings, he may be on par with the others on this list, but he is certainly the best man for the position if you are looking for a long term solution as he is just 22 years old and will keep growing.

Other notable top left backs in FIFA 15 are Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta, Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao, Arsenal’s Kieron Gibbs, Liverpool’s Alberto Moreno, Manchester City’s Gael Clichy and Manchester United’s young sensation Luke Shaw. To view the best young players in the game, click here.
