FIFA 18 'El Tornado': Yannick Bolasie claims EA stole his move

Burnley v Everton - Premier League
'El Tornado' doesn't impress Yannick Bolasie

What's the story?

When FIFA 18 was about to launch, people were already talking about the slick moves and skills that EA has incorporated in the game, to spice things up a bit. One of the popular skill moves that have been in the news for a while now is called the 'El Tornado'. Ronaldo was seen doing the move in the demo version of the game when it launched. And, after the official release of FIFA 18, everybody seems to be trying to do the 'El Tornado'.

While on one hand, the whole world is going crazy after the 'El Tornado', on the other hand, the Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, doesn't seem to be too happy with it. Bolasie disapproved the 'El Tornado', and claimed it to be a rip-off of his signature move, which he calls the 'Bolasie Flick'. He accused EA of 'stealing' his skill move and portraying it as a new one.

In case you didn't know...

Bolasie was expected to do big things when he left Crystal Palace for Everton in a £25m deal last August. However, he picked up a serious knee injury and has been out of action since December 2015.

He got injured just after 13 appearances for the Premier League club and was recently seen racing with ex-Olympian Darren Campbell, which means the winger is ready to return to the field.

The heart of the matter

Bolasie is soon to return to the pitch, but that isn't the only thing that is on his mind, as he has his eyes on FIFA 18 also.

He believes that the game's new 'El Tornado' move, as shown off by Ronaldo and Antoine Griezmann, belongs to him in reality, and should be called the 'Bolasie Flick'.

Pointing out to a trick that he had performed while playing for Crystal Palace against Tottenham in December 2014, when he flicked the ball up and sprinted past Christian Eriksen and Roberto Soldado, Bolasie tweeted:

As we can see, clearly a lot of people did agree with him, as the post generated over 2,100 retweets and 3,300 favourites by the time he was done tweeting.

However, FIFA had something else in mind. EA Sports FIFA defied Bolasie's claim, and replied with a tweet of Ronaldo's gif, performing the 'El Tornado' back at the Everton man, saying, "It's good, but it's not quite #El Tornado"

What's next?

Bolasie is recovering at a steady pace and has been seen practising on the grass, and racing with sprinters. Everton's official page tweeted on the winger's page, asking him if he will be showing his move anytime soon, to which Bolasie replied saying that he might have to do it.

We hope that when the Everton winger comes back to play, he demonstrates the 'Bolasie flick'. It would be insane if he did.

Author's take

Clearly, FIFA wasn't buying what Bolasie had to sell. Although the 'Bolasie flick' looks similar to the 'El Tornado', there could be some nuanced differences to both the moves. While FIFA was not ready to accept the allegations that Bolasie threw their way, it doesn't seem too obvious that Bolasie is going to quiet down anytime soon.
