FIFA 18: After retirement, Ronaldinho overtakes FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi in FUT pack
What's the story?
Fans of FIFA Ultimate Team can start to rejoice right about now. Following news of his retirement, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho will be available as part of FUT pack openings as revealed by EA Sports via its official Twitter account.
After a glittering career in which the winger won multiple trophies and individual honours, EA Sports has decided to pay homage to the former Barcelona man as well as give football and gaming fans the option to have Ronaldinho line up for their Ultimate Teams in the game. This will no doubt be a massive addition to any FUT side.
In case you didn't know...
Ronaldinho was announced as being one of the "Icon" card players back when the game released and has three cards from various points in his career.
The heart of the matter
Two of these three cards refer to him as a central attacking midfielder (CAM), rating him at different points in his career, at 91 and 89. However, he is rated at a whopping 94 in highest of these three cards, which, in all probabilities depicts the time he was at FC Barcelona, when he won it all.
Incidentally, this rating takes Ronaldinho higher than the normal FUT card of Lionel Messi, which is rated at 9.
It is important to note that it won't be an easy task to acquire Ronaldinho at his best in your FUT team, with the Icon being untradable and pretty expensive. But with a player of the calibre of Ronaldinho, one can be sure that avid gamers would be chomping at the bit to get him in their teams.
Ronaldinho is one of the most exciting inclusions in FUT at the moment with FIFA Team of the Year (TOTY) also stealing the spotlight.
What's next?
Ronaldinho may be retired from active football but he continues to be a major influence in the virtual world with his Icon card in high demand already.
Author's take
Being able to grab yourself a Ronaldinho Icon card would be mental at this time and FUT fans should try their best to ensure they have the silky skills of Ronaldinho in their team at the earliest.
