FIFA 18 ratings: Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy slams EA Sports on Twitter after low rating

What's the story?
Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy is the latest player to find fault with the FIFA 18 player ratings. The Frenchman took to Twitter to complain to EA that they clearly hadn't watched any football on the TV recently if they think he deserves to be rated so low. Mendy has been well known for his social media presence on Twitter and wasted no time in making his feelings known.

Mendy joins the likes of Michy Batshuayi and Dele Alli, who are equally unhappy about the rating that they received. Batshuayi even backed the Frenchman on Twitter with a tweet of his own that read, 'Ahahah! Tell them broooo!!!'.
But, in EA's defense, Mendy's FIFA 17 rating was 75. This time, his rating has jumped up to 78. But the 23-year-old feels that he deserves a higher rating.
The heart of the matter
Last season, when he was at Monaco, he was too good a player for them. He had helped them win the Ligue 1 title and even got to the semifinals of the Champions League. He created 25 chances, registered five assists and completed 56% of attempted take-ons which earned him a big money move to the Premier League with Manchester City. Many of Mendy's fans sympathized with him and were of the opinion that he deserved an 81 rating.
What's next?
Fortunately for Benjamin, his impressive debut with City will most likely have a positive impact on his rating in FIFA 19. But until then, he is stuck with the 78 rating.
In FIFA 17, his stats read 77 Pace, 47 Shooting Power, 61 Passing, 72 Dribbling, 72 Defence and 76 Physical. In FIFA 18 his pace was bumped up to 82, shooting went up by one point, passing got a major boost to 70, dribbling went up by three points, defence by two points and physicality improved by three points.

Mendy is not the first player to be displeased with his rating and certainly won't be the last. But it is too late for EA to pander to their demands and change the ratings.
Now all the players need to do is get their head down and improve their game as much as possible to try and convince EA Sports to increase the ratings by the time FIFA 19 releases.
