How to defeat Diana Marmont in Alan Wake 2 The Lake House
After facing uncharted horrors during the early hours of Alan Wake 2 The Lake House DLC, protagonist Agent Estevez will soon find herself face-to-face with the final boss. Perhaps surprisingly, it is Diana Marmont, one of the head scientists leading the research at the facility—or at least did. She's now a Taken, a shell of her former self possessed by the Dark Presence.
She can be a challenge to fight even for players who've beaten the original Alan Wake 2 game. Being the one and only boss fight in this DLC, here's how players who are having trouble with Diana Marmont can defeat her.
Defeating Diana Marmont in Alan Wake 2 The Lake House
Diana is encountered in Sublevel 5, the lowest chamber in the Lake House facility. Despite being possessed, she shows a strong range of emotions, which is evident as she kills her husband Jules Marmont who had also become a Taken. As the boss fight starts, players should follow the same basic measures they take when facing any other Taken: burn away the shadows engulfing them to make them more vulnerable and create distance between them and Estevez.
At the same time, equip the shotgun and blast away at her when the opportunity arises. While in the arena, she will follow Estevez by closing the gap quickly with a lunge and will try to get a couple of punches in, which can be avoided by dodging. She will also charge up dark miasma to channel an area-of-effect blast, so be sure to escape its range as it can deal a good amount of damage.
After taking enough damage, she will teleport to one of the platforms on the sides and chuck projectiles at the player. Avoid them by hiding behind objects and try to gather as much ammo and consumables that are littered around the area, including in small containers surrounding the body of water in the center. Also, be sure to take shots at her using the pistol whenever possible.

Not long after, she will summon the painting monsters encountered first on Sublevel 1. They can only be defeated using the Black Rock Launcher weapon in Alan Wake 2 The Lake House. Equip it and blast away at the creature while avoiding Diana's projectile throws. The best way to do the latter is to stand behind the metal railing structure in the center of the arena.
She will get back down once this phase is over, so get the flashlight ready and repeat the steps from the start until she goes down. All things considered, it's fairly straightforward boss fight, but what will truly ramp up the difficulty more than it needs to is the lack of healing items. The items around the arena consist mostly of ammo and offensive tools like flashbangs.
As such, players who go into the fight with no healing consumables will be in for a tough time. Thankfully, the free Alan Wake 2 Anniversary Update that arrived alongside this DLC packs in many quality-of-life features, including gameplay assist cheats. These make life easier for players who have found themselves in a rough spot with no healing supplies and no reliable manual save to fall back on.
Alan Wake 2 The Lake House is out for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms via the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition.
