How to get water in Farming Simulator 25

Getting water in Farming Simulator 25 is crucial to keep the greenhouses up and ensure that your animals are well catered for. However, acquiring and managing this resource is not simple on most farms and requires the necessary equipment and strategic decision of how one gets affected when running their farm.

Whether you run a small or large operation, knowing how to protect water and the tools will save you time, money, and effort while keeping your farm efficient and thriving.

Here's a step-by-step guide to getting water in Farming Simulator 25 and transporting it to where you need it.

How to acquire water in Farming Simulator 25

1) Buy a water container

To start, you’ll need a water tank or container. These are located in the shop under the Animals > Barrels section. There are four options available, each with different capacities:

  • ABI 550 or ABI 1600: Suitable for small farms.
  • Larger tanks: The bigger variants can carry up to 32,000 liters, but they cannot move them without a dolly or a semi-truck.

When you are starting out, the ABI 550 or 1600 is a good choice. It can be towed easily behind a small tractor or pickup truck. Following the purchase of your container, collect it from the vehicle shop.

There are three methods to get water for your farm in Farming Simulator 25:

Natural sources of water in Farming Simulator 25

  • Rivers, lakes, and ponds: Drive your water container near the edge and press the R key (on PC) to fill it. This is the most cost-effective method since natural water is free.
  • Location tips: Check your map for water bodies. They’re often marked with water icons.

Pre-built water towers

  • Some maps include water towers or refill stations that charge for water. Simply drive up, press R, and your tank will start filling.
  • Cost: Around $300 per 1,000 liters, though this can vary based on your game's economic difficulty.

Placeable water tanks

You can place water tanks directly on your farm for convenience. Find them in the Construction > Containers menu. There are two types:

  • Standard water tanks.
  • A windmill-style tank.

These are more expensive and have a water fee, but they are pre-filled and ready to use immediately. If you don't mind the extra expense, they're excellent for saving time.

3) Transporting water in Farming Simulator 25

Once your tank is full, transport it to where it’s needed:

  • For greenhouses: Greenhouses require water to function. Pull up to the water drop-off point and follow the on-screen prompts to unload.
  • For animals: Certain animal pens, like pastures for sheep, also require water. Pull your tank close to the designated area and unload.

Keep an eye on the water levels in your greenhouses and animal pens to ensure everything runs smoothly. You’ll need to refill as needed to avoid interruptions in production or care.

While natural water sources are free, they may require driving across the map. To save time, consider adding placeable water tanks once you’ve earned enough money. Balance cost, convenience, and efficiency to manage your farm effectively.
