How to play Youhu in Wuthering Waves

Youhu is a new 4-Star Resonator added to Wuthering Waves in the second half of version 1.3. Despite being a 4-Star unit, her kit packs quite a punch, and she can easily be played as a sub-DPS or a healer, depending on your preferences. The character's kit mechanics are quite unique in that they involve RNG, allowing her to perform actions that grant different buffs on the battlefield.

While that might sound a bit complicated, playing Youhu is actually pretty fun and easy. This article discusses the unit's kit and playstyle in depth, giving players an idea on how to play her in Wuthering Waves.

To better understand Youhu's playstyle and rotations, it is important to be well-versed with her kit.

Youhu's Normal Attack

Youhu's Basic Attack string is a combination of four different attacks that deal Glacio DMG. Her Heavy Attack, Frostfall, can be activated by holding down the Normal Attack button and then releasing it, which grants her one random Antique. This Antique can be locked in and turned into an Auspice by pressing the Normal Attack button once.

Youhu's Forte Circuit

Youhu's Forte Circuit is tied in closely with her Normal Attacks. Once Youhu has accumulated a total of four Auspices, holding down the Normal Attack button will release her Forte Circuit attack, dealing Glacio DMG based on the Auspice combination she currently has.

Here are the effects that can be triggered based on the Auspice combination currently held by Youhu:

If she has four different types of Auspices, she unleashes Free Verse, which reduces the Vibration Strength of enemies that have been hit.
If she has two identical Auspices, she unleashes Antithesis, which increases her Forte Circuit attack DMG by 70%.
If she has two matching pairs of Auspices, she unleashes Double Pun, which restores extra HP for party members.
If she has three identical Auspices, she unleashes Triplet, wherein her Forte Circuit attack DMG is increased by 175%.
If she has all four identical Auspices, she unleashes Perfect Rhyme, which activates the effects of Free Verse, Double Pun and Triplet all at the same time.

Youhu's Resonance Skill

Youhu's Resonance Skill attacks nearby enemies dealing Glacio DMG while restoring HP for party members. She also performs Lucky Draw once, granting her one Antique that can be locked in (by using her Normal Attack) and turned into an Auspice.

The four different Antiques that are integral to every part of Youhu's kit have the following effects:

Chime: Attacks enemies with a Chime, dealing Glacio DMG and reducing the enemy's Vibration Strength.
Ruyi: Batters enemies with a Ruyi, which deals Glacio DMG with an increased DMG multiplier.
Ding: Rams into enemies on a Ding, dealing Glacio DMG and interrupting the enemy's stance.
Mask: Throws a Mask at enemies, which deals Glacio DMG and also pulls in any enemies present along its path.

Youhu's Resonance Liberation

Youhu's Resonance Liberation creates a blast that deals Glacio DMG, following which you get to pick any one of her four Antiques in a QTE-styled window.

Pick an Antique depending on what you need to complete your combo. If you fail to pick an Antique, you will be given a random one.

The trick to playing Youhu well is always trying to get as many matching Antiques as possible, allowing her to maximize her Forte Circuit attack damage.

As discussed previously, Youhu can gain an Antique by holding down her Normal Attack button after performing a Resonance Skill and after casting her Resonance Liberation. Other ways to obtain Antiques include using her Intro Skill and performing a Dodge Counter.

When playing Youhu, sticking to the following rotation will help you make the most of her kit:

Use Youhu's Intro Skill to switch her in, which will grant her one Antique. Use her Normal Attack to transform this Antique into an Auspice.
Use Youhu's Resonance Skill to gain another Antique. Then, use her Normal Attack again to transform it into an Auspice.
Hold down Youhu's Basic Attack to activate her Heavy Attack, which will grant you one more random Antique. Use Youhu's Normal Attack to turn the Antique into an Auspice.
To get the fourth Antique, you can either perform a Dodge Counter, another Heavy Attack, or simply use her Resonance Liberation. Once you have the fourth Antique, transform it into an Auspice by using her Normal Attack.
Once you have four Auspices, unleash Youhu's Forte Circuit attack by holding down her Normal Attack button. Depending on the types of Auspices you have, Youhu will unleash different types of attacks, as mentioned earlier.
Swap out to another DPS character to activate Youhu's Outro Skill, which grants a 100% Coordinated Attack DMG boost to the incoming character. After that, repeat this rotation.
