How to preload Honkai Star Rail 2.6 patch

The preload feature for the Honkai Star Rail 2.6 update is live for PC, PlayStation, Android, and iOS devices as of October 21, 2024. You can download the files ahead of the global launch via the respective launchers.

Here are the detailed steps to complete the process for each platform:

HSR 2.6 preload for PC

To pre-download the patch 2.6 files on your PC, head to the HoYoPlay launcher.
In case you have multiple HoYoverse games installed, choose Star Rail from the list.
Click on the Pre-Install Icon on the bottom, next to the Start button. Doing so will open a small window containing the details of the Resource Package Size and total storage requirement.
Click the Download button to confirm the process.

The version 2.6 preload size is roughly 15 GB on PC. However, reserve 33 GB of storage space since the files will decompress upon the final installation of the update. You can launch the game with the patch files downloading in the background.

Boot up the game on your mobile device.
Navigate to the login screen to find the Pre-Download Resource Icon in the bottom right corner. Click the button to open a pop window.
Press Confirm to pre-download the files.

The preload steps are the same for both Android and iOS devices. The pre-installation resource size is approximately 1.7 GB, with the final file size expanding up to 12.2 GB after the integration.

HSR 2.6 preload for PlayStation

To download the patch files on PlayStation, simply launch HSR on the console. The game will begin the preload provided you have sufficient storage space on the device. The total storage requirement for the update is about 21 GB on PS5.

It is worth noting that the preload size may vary across all platforms if you use voice-over expansion packages of different languages.
