How to rank up quickly in Deadlock

Ever since Valve announced the Ranked Mode, players have been trying to find ways to rank up quickly in Deadlock. Despite being in an Early Development Phase, Valve has decided to introduce a competitive model with a detailed ranking system. As of now, Deadlock has 11 ranks and limited playtime hours. The community is eager to see how this game will shape the esports industry and everyone has been trying to get their hands on the ranked mode.

This article will help players understand how they could rank up quickly in Deadlock.

Ways to rank up quickly in Deadlock

As mentioned before, the game currently has eleven ranks:

  • Initiate
  • Seeker
  • Alchemist
  • Arcanist
  • Ritualist
  • Emissary
  • Archon
  • Oracle
  • Phantom
  • Ascendant
  • Eternus

If you have not played any competitive match yet, you are tagged as an Obscurus rather than Unranked. Whatever rank you gain, stays for a week, no matter whether you win or lose, and it's re-evaluated the next week. Here are the best ways to rank up quickly in Deadlock:

Mastering only a few Heroes rather than switching every match is highly recommended for those who want to rank up quickly in Deadlock. There are 21 heroes in Deadlock and you need to pick at least three of them to queue in a match. However, you can right-click on a Hero to mark it as a high priority and you will most likely get it.

This simple yet effective way of picking Heroes eliminates interlocking problems and gives players the chance to only master the characters they prefer.

Focus on collecting Souls more than kills

It is quite obvious that the game focuses a lot on the overall Souls collection considering that the main scoreboard only shows the total amount of Souls collected by the whole team. The more Souls you are able to collect, the more Items you can buy from The Curiosity Shop that give you a significant advantage over others.

There are various ways you could earn Souls in Deadlock:

  • Eliminate NPCs.
  • Break indoor crates.
  • Deliver Soul Urns.
  • Eliminate Opponents.
  • Complete objectives.

Interestingly, if the opponent eliminates an NPC or player, you can also steal their Souls if you shoot the Orbs within a few seconds and vice versa.

Playing in the right region

A lot of players are unaware of the fact that no matter what region they are from, the default region for most of them is Europe. Playing in the right region could help a lot to rank up quickly in Deadlock. You can change the region by using the in-game console and writing the following command:

RegionConsole Command
North Americacitadel_region_override 0
Europecitadel_region_override 1
Asiacitadel_region_override 2
South Americacitadel_region_override 3
Oceaniacitadel_region_override 5

Considering the fast pace and decision-making required in Deadlock, good ping is highly recommended. If you are unable to change your region, restart the game and paste the same command again.

Keep switching between Lanes

Although the players are assigned their own Lanes, switching to other ones at the right time and helping your teammates is the best way to secure a win and eventually rank up quickly in Deadlock. If you have eliminated the Guardian in your Lane early, switch to the nearest Lane and help them get an advantage. Repeat the same process when pushing the Walkers.
