Is Planet Coaster 2 available on PS4 and Xbox One?
With the recent release of Frontier Developments' Planet Coaster 2, people still operating on last-gen console hardware would be curious if they can play the title. Unfortunately, Frontier Developments revealed that the much-awaited sequel to Planet Coaster will not be playable on PS4 and Xbox One. People can play the game as soon as it releases on November 6, 2024.
Planet Coaster 2 is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows.
According to Frontier Developments, the game is available to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Microsoft Windows. Interested players can navigate the respective in-game stores to purchase either its Standard Edition for $49.99 or Deluxe Edition for $64.99. The standard edition contains the base game, while the deluxe edition adds the Vintage Funfair ride pack, which includes 10 extra old-school rides to the game.
Why isn't the game coming to last-gen consoles?
When asked about the reason for the absence of the game's last-gen ports, the developer responded:
"Launching Planet Coaster 2 on current gen consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S) allows us to make the most of the hardware to ensure the seamless gameplay experience, deep management, and stunning visuals you’d expect from a Planet Coaster sequel"
It is still possible to play the game in last-gen hardware
While the developer clarified that there wouldn't be any native support for last-gen hardware, the sequel to Planet Coaster can still be played on said systems. People that don't have access to a high-spec PC or current-gen console, can still play the game through NVIDIA's GeForce NOW cloud gaming service.
Here's how to play the game through NVIDIA GeForce NOW:
- Navigate to the NVIDIA GeForce NOW website.
- Login with your NVIDIA account.
- Select one from the three membership modes available.
- Search for Planet Coaster 2.
- Navigate to the game and click the Play button.
