Is Train coming to CS2? Possibilities explored
Valve's iconic FPS shooter CS2 has proved to be a successful upgrade over CS:GO. With millions of users playing or watching Counter-Strike for decades, various maps from the series have dedicated fanbases. One of the most popular CS maps of all time is Train, which was replaced by Ancient in the active map pool of the game in May 2023.
However, a lot of things have directly hinted towards the return of Train recently, which in turn has hyped up the community. This article will explore the possibility of the return of de_train in Counter-Strike 2 and which map it could replace.

Signs that Train might be coming to CS2
In a recent tweet regarding the latest patch notes of Counter-Strike 2, Valve wrote the following caption:
"Release notes are back and better than ever! Check it out"
At first glance, it does not seem to be something special. However, many fans pointed out that this is the exact wording they used years ago when a revamped version of the Train map was announced in CS:GO on November 12, 2014.
Moreover, the banner of the official Counter-Strike on X has been updated after a long time. Curiously, it features a basic concrete floor with no text or information regarding anything. Within no time, players realized that it resembled the floor from one of the outdoor areas in the Train map.
Both of these hints perfectly align with the possibility that the map will be added to the active map pool. As of now, it is not sure which map will be replaced with Train in CS2 and what new visual changes will be made.

When will Train arrive in CS2?
As of now, there is not enough information available regarding the return of this map. However, it will most likely be added after the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 concludes so that no sudden changes are made for the biggest CS2 event. The Shanghai Major is starting on November 30, 2024, and will be concluded on December 15, 2024.
Keeping this in mind, the Train map is likely to arrive in January of 2025 and could also bring a new set of cosmetics with it. It is to be noted that these are pure speculations and Valve has not confirmed anything yet.
