League of Legends patch 14.22 preview: Katarina buffs, Sylas nerfs, minion changes, and more

The League of Legends patch 14.22 preview is now live, with David Turley (@RiotPhreak on X) disclosing all details regarding the forthcoming modifications. Enhancements will be made to certain champions to possibly improve their chances of victory in matches, while others, including Aatrox, Sylas, Corki, and additional champions, will experience nerfs. Adjustments will also be implemented to minions and the mechanics of smite targeting.

1) Blitzcrank

  • E total AD ratio: 1.8 → 2.0

2) Briar

  • Base HP: 590 → 625

3) Fizz

  • Q AP ratio: 0.45 0.55
  • W active AP ratio: 0.4 → 0.45

4) Irelia

  • Passive now refreshes on structures
  • Passive structure damage: 0% → 50%

5) Katarina

  • E CD: 14-8 → 12-8
  • R CD: 90/60/45 → 75/60/45

6) Kayle

  • Passive AS: 6% + 0.5% AP → 6% + 1% AP
  • Max AS: 30% +2.5% AP → 30% + 5% AP

7) Rumble

  • Base HP: 625 → 655

8) Swain

  • Magic resist: 30 + 1.3 → 31 + 1.55
  • Q damage: 60-160 → 60-180
  • E CD: 14-10 → 12-10
  • R heal HP ratio: 1.25% → 1.5%

9) Varus

  • W on-hit damage: 5-25 → 8-28

10) Vayne

  • Base AD: 68 → 65
  • Mana growth: 60 → 50

5) Jax

  • R CD: 100/90/80 → 110/100/90
  • R active damage: 150/250/350 → 100/175/250

6) Lillia

  • Armor growth: 5.2 → 4.5
  • P monster heal: 39-54 → 39

7) Mordekaiser

  • E damage: 70-130 + 0.6 AP → 60-120 + 0.4 AP

8) Poppy

  • Base AD: 64 → 60
  • Level 1 AS: 0.625 → 0.658

9) Seraphine

  • Q AP ratio: 0.6 → 0.5

10) Shen

  • Move speed: 330 → 335
  • Base HP: 635 → 665
  • E move speed: 400/425/445/460 (based on boots) → 400-460 (level 1-13)

2) K'Sante

  • Q damage: 80-200 → 70-190
  • R+E dash speed: 950 + ms → 1250 + ms

System nerfs

1) Barrier

  • Shield: 120-480 → 100-460

System adjustments

1) Side Lane Minion

  • Move Speed: 120 bonus ms until minute 14 → 120-0 bonus ms, scaling down until minute 14

The top and bottom lane minion waves will gradually slow down over the first 14 minutes, rather than crashing at once until 14 minutes.


2) Smite targeting forgiveness

  • Reduction of Smite targeting forgiveness radius for Epic Monsters: 300 → 125

It will be more difficult to accidentally smite the wrong Voidgrub. Notably, smiting a Voidgurb corpse will not target a living Voidgurb as often.


3) Opportunity

  • AD increased: 50 → 55
  • Move Speed removed: 4% → 0
  • Preparation Lethality increased: 10/6 → 11/7 (melee/ranged)
  • Build path adjusted: Serrated Dirk + Rectrix + 925 gold → Pickaxe + Serrated Dirk + Long Sword + 475 gold

4) Youmuu's Ghostblade

  • AD reduced: 60 → 55
  • Move Speed added: 0 → 4%
  • Cost reduced: 2900 → 2700 gold
  • Build path adjusted: Rectrix → Pickaxe + Long Sword

5) Statikk Shiv

  • AD reduced: 50 → 40
  • Attack Speed reduced: 40% → 30%
  • Cost reduced: 2900 → 2700 gold
  • Electrospark: 120 damage to 6 targets on kill, 3-sec CD → 60 damage (85 to minions/monsters) for 3 attacks, 25-10 sec CD
  • Electroshock: 270 damage to 186 targets on takedown → Refresh Electrospark on takedown

6) Yun Tal Wildarrows

  • AD reduced: 60 → 50
  • Attack Speed added: 0 → 25%
  • Critical Strike Chance: 25% → 0% + 0.2% crit chance on attack (up to 25%)
  • Cost increased: 2950 → 3000 gold
  • Serrated Edge: removed
  • Flurry added: Attacking an enemy champion grants +30% Attack Speed for 4 seconds (40-second cooldown, attacks refund 1 second, 2 on Critical Strike).
  • Build path adjusted: Pickaxe + Noonquiver + 775 gold → B.F. Sword + Scout's Slingshot + Long Sword + 750 gold

Following the preview notes, David Turley asserted that:

"This patch we hope to put the systems in place that will make mid assassins more functional and more balanceable going forward. We’re finishing our work on first-slot ADC items. The rest of this patch is small-scale balance aimed at solo queue outliers."
