LEGO Horizon Adventures: How to beat Deathbringer
LEGO Horizon Adventures wraps up with Deathbringer, the giant mecha final boss of both this game and Horizon Zero Dawn. You can battle this foe with anyone, but we prefer Aloy, due to the usefulness of her spread shot arrows, if you can get them. While this boss is challenging, it’s nothing new for players who have gone through the rest of this game. With add phases, plenty of long-range attacks, and a strong defensive system, it could get a little frustrating.
Though it’s not likely to happen to other players, during our LEGO Horizon Adventures review, this fight did crash right at the end, so be prepared, in case you have to do it a second time. If you want to know what the Deathbringer boss brings to the table in LEGO Horizon Adventures, here’s what you need to know.
Tips on beating Deathbringer in LEGO Horizon Adventures
After a brief cutscene, Deathbringer comes to life in LEGO Horizon Adventures, complete with the Ancient Goop Monster that now controls it. You cannot hurt this boss normally. The first few moments of the fight will teach you the basics of what it can do.
Before you get started, you should also be mindful of this: there’s a ring of Corruption around the stage, so try not to get knocked into/run into this, so you can avoid needless damage, much less being stunned. It typically opens with three clusters of missiles, so just stay on the move and this can’t hurt you.
It also has a fire ring that expands out from it, which reaches most of the stage — just jump over this. Even if you’re mid-charge on your weapon for some reason, you can just leap over this incredibly easily. It will do this twice, back to back usually, and this is when you can begin to set up some damage.
You’ll see the legs of Deathbringer glow yellow in LEGO Horizon Adventures — you need to hit each of these until the glow vanishes. You may not get them all in one round, and if so, you have to wait until it does it again. This is why I like Spread Arrow or the Barrage Arrow.
Once you get them all broken down, the boss collapses, and you can spam your strongest hits. When the boss gets back up, it will spread a wave of thorns, and also create masses of corruption on the map, but you can break these. He will also typically summon adds here, but they’re easily dealt with.
The barrage arrow is great for breaking the weak points — but if you just have regular arrows, it’s going to take two or three rounds to get through this. Just be patient. None of the gadgets are especially amazing for these, but the Brick Separator does take them out in one hit, so in a pinch, it will do nicely against Deathbringer in LEGO Horizon Adventures. The most important thing about this fight is to just take your time since there are long pauses between weak points opening up.
You also have to keep an eye out for its tracking machine gun, which chases you for a few seconds. Next comes the double laser fire, which rotates clockwise. You can just jump over these beams. Depending on where you stand on the map, you only need to jump once.

After the first knockdown, Deathbringer will add a ring of fire attack around him that's easily telegraphed. Just look for the red zone and don’t be in it. The fire will last on screen for a few moments, but you can jump over it if you need to get close.
At this point, just keep repeating, and avoiding the attacks as they come in. He’ll occasionally combine attacks, too, like the ring of fire, and the double lasers. Another tip is that it’s important to take out adds as soon as you can — they often drop gadgets and weapons. If you can get a Brick Separator, try and save it for when the boss is stunned. Each hit deals 700 damage, and that’s a huge chunk of Deathbringer’s HP.
At 50% and less, Deathbringer will introduce dual-fire lasers that streak down the center of the screen in this LEGO Horizon Adventure boss fight, and likely follow up with the tracking machine gun. This gives you almost no space to work with. Just stay diligent and run to avoid this. He’ll also start summoning adds more at this point.
In the final phase, the summoned machines also spit-tracking orbs that harm you if you don’t shoot them down quickly enough. This, coupled with the missile barrage, could become incredibly frustrating. Just stay on the move, and wait for another opening for Deathbringer in LEGO Horizon Adventures.
Mechanics start appearing closer and closer together at this point. You might see the ring of fire, double laser fire, and then the adds or double machine gun at the same time. It all just becomes incredibly chaotic. After you break it down for the final time, grab the Golden Brick, and enjoy your success at the end of LEGO Horizon Adventures.
Lego Horizon Adventures isn’t over at this point, though. There’s more to do, depending on how much time you took to collect Gold Bricks, Red Bricks, and all the various customization options the game has to offer you.
