"MM is not working right": Deadlock community split over current matchmaking issues

The Deadlock community is growing fast and the game is already climbing the Steam charts despite being in an Early Developerment Build. It features a distinctive blend of MOBA and third-person shooter styles that is one of its kind. Such unique gameplay makes it arguably one of the most difficult multiplayer games to master.

A recent meme post by u/The_Partisan_Spy on the official Deadlock community page on Reddit has been gaining much traction from the players. It features an image of the win-loss difference of exactly 50%, with 100 wins out of 200 total games played. The post has gained over 1,400 upvotes and hundreds of comments within a few days.

I can confirm, matchmaking is working as it should.

It seems like many players are having a hard time improving their win rate. A lot of players shared in the comments that they also have the exact win-to-loss ratio of 1:2, which is quite surprising. Many think that the game's matchmaking system is broken and needs work. One of them is u/YaGirlStephy23, who also found the meme funny:

"MM is not working right.. but this meme is cash"

Various other people from the community shared similar experiences talking about how they are unable to get over 50% win rate and the matchmaking is not working right. These discussions regarding the fixed win rate started to surface since the introduction of the Deadlock ranked mode.

However, some people think that matchmaking is working correctly and that simple things like win-to-lose ratios are not relevant arguments for the game's MMR being broken.

How to get an invite for Deadlock?

If you don't know, Deadlock is an invite-only game. The only way one could get their hands on this game is if you manually get a playtesting invite on Steam. If your friend has access to the game they can invite you by doing the following steps:

  • Launch the game.
  • Click the "Invite You Friends" button in the bottom right corner.
  • Find your friend's name and click "Invite".
  • Wait for a few hours. In some cases, the process could take up to 2 days.

Many people in the Steam community are sending invites to random players in return for Steam points or a follow on social media platforms. Beware of scams and do not click any suspicious links to keep your data safe.
