Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta dates revealed: Platforms, rewards, and more explored

Capcom has officially revealed Monster Hunter Wilds' Open Beta, which will be playable sooner than expected. While the title is still months away from release, the limited demo will go live in roughly a week from now, on October 31, 2024. If you're on PlayStation, you can get early access to it.

Although the Open Beta features a very small portion of the actual game (basically just two of the introductory hunts), it's still a great way for players to get a feel of its new combat system and gameplay mechanics ahead of launch. Additionally, players participating in the Open Beta will be able to claim a special reward for the full release.

When and where can you play Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta?

Monster Hunter Wilds' Open Beta will go live on October 31, 2024, 8 PM PT, and will be available till November 1, 2024, 7 PM PT. It will be available on all current generation platforms, i.e., Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Unlike other playable beta programs, this one requires no registration.

You can simply head to the digital storefront on your preferred platform and download the playable demo when the Open Beta goes live. PlayStation 5 players with an active PlayStation Plus subscription, can jump onto the Open Beta a few days early, on October 28, 2024.

The PlayStation Plus exclusive "early access" starts on October 28, 2024, 8 PM PT and will be available till October 30, 2024, 8PM PT. After the early access period expires, PlayStation users can continue playing the demo till November 1, 2024, 7 PM PT. It should be noted that the Open Beta early access applies to all tiers of PlayStation Plus.


What are the rewards for participating in Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta?

For most players, getting to play Monster Hunter Wilds, at least the first few hours of it, is the reward itself. However, there's also an actual "reward" for playing the demo.

The reward is a Pendant (cosmetic) - Stuffed Felyne Teddy, which can be equipped on the Hunter.


What is included in the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta?

The Open Beta will include the first hour of the main story of MH Wilds, including the guided Chatacabra hunt and the opening cutscenes. It will also feature a regular hunt called Doshaguma, which you can tackle solo or with other players/friends in multiplayer. Additionally, the demo will feature the character creator.

You can fully customize your Hunter as well as the Palico, which can also be carried over to the full game.

Additionally, Capcom has confirmed that MH Wilds' full release and the upcoming Open Beta will support crossplay.


What are Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta PC system requirements?

According to Capcom, MH Wilds' upcoming Open Beta will feature the same system requirements as the full-release version, albeit with a small minor difference. Given the demo's limited scope, it has a much smaller storage requirement compared to the final game.

The upcoming demo requires 29 GB of SSD storage.
