Mortal Kombat News: Ronda Rousey/Sonya Blade update; Top pro-wrestling stars set to attend Mortal Kombat 11 event
Ronda Rousey was rumored to be voicing Mortal Kombat icon Sonya Blade in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11. NerdMag reported the original story last week, claiming that Rousey would be at NetherRealm Studios' release event in London on January 17th. Now...that story seems to hold some more weight.
Ronda Rousey confirmed on her Instagram that she would indeed be in attendance for the Mortal Kombat 11 Reveal event. Rousey received a black envelope from NetherRealm, which had been sent to multiple celebrities, voice actors, and pillars in the fighting game community.
Rousey said that she's been waiting her whole life for this moment, and she would definitely be attending. She's not the only professional wrestler to be taking part in the event, however.
Cody Rhodes also received an invitation for the event, and also said, just like Rousey, that he was ready to "defend Earthrealm."
Though nothing has been confirmed as of yet, it seems that both Rousey and Rhodes may have revealed that they're a part of the game in some way. If the report from Nerd Mag was true, and Rousey is indeed taking over the role of Sonya Blade, is it possible we could see Cody Rhodes voicing a character as well?
The Mortal Kombat 11 Reveal takes place tomorrow, January 17th at 10:30 am PT/1:30 pm ET/6:30 pm UK.
Up to this point, we've only seen a few things confirmed for Mortal Kombat 11. Basically, we know Scorpion and Raiden are in the game, and Shao Kahn will be available for DLC. Outside of that, the upcoming title is shrouded in mystery. That all fades away tomorrow.
