Apex Legends to see 'innovative changes' after missing monetization targets
Apex Legends is set to witness major systematic changes in order to increase the title's overall financial gains. Electronic Arts' CEO Andrew Wilson recently came forward with a statement regarding the publisher's future plans where he reported that the recent Battle Pass changes did not quite meet their expectations in terms of monetization.

CEO Andrew Wilson lays down objectives for Apex Legends's future
The 22nd season of Apex Legends introduced a series of changes including new anti-cheat software, new game modes, and a map. The construct of the Battle Pass was also changed and now includes two new paid tiers namely Ultimate and Ultimate+.
However, the Apex Legends Battle Pass changes were not met with a lot of positive feedback. Furthermore, EA CEO Andrew Wilson also noted that the changes in the Battle Pass did not help with monetization according to the publisher's expectations.
Therefore, according to Wilson, changes will be implemented to the overall monetization structure of the game. He acknowledged that it is an iconic title with a rather loyal playerbase. Therefore, EA will continue to work towards fulfilling the expectations of its global community.
Recently, he spoke to Variety at length about his vision saying:
"First, in the competitive landscape where brand, a strong core player base and high quality mechanics matter more than ever, ‘Apex’ has proven to be a compelling franchise for us and an industry stalwart. Second, to drive significant growth and reengagement, large systematic change is required. We will continue to focus on retention and breadth of content in service of our global community as we work towards more significant, innovative changes in the future.”
The exact nature of the changes has not been announced by EA just yet. However, CFO Stuart Canfield also mentioned that they are looking to ensure player retention as well as engagement and will plan the game's future accordingly.
