"Don't cheer the opposition": Manchester City fan tells IShowSpeed to sit down after he celebrates Real Madrid's goal

Popular YouTube streamer Darren "IShowSpeed" was told off by Manchester City supporters to not cheer for Real Madrid after he celebrated Rodrygo scoring a goal in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarter-final. The content creator had traveled to England to watch the match and was streaming it from the stands when the incident happened.

When Real Madrid scored an away goal in the first half, IShowSpeed stood up to cheer for it. But the people around him asked him to sit down, and a man confronted him about cheering for the opposition while in a Manchester City stand and asked him to stop his stream. He said:

"Turn off camera, you are surrounded by City fans. Don't cheer the opposition while you're here. Don't cheer Madrid."

IShowSpeed told to stop his live stream after cheering for Real Madrid while sitting in a Manchester City stand

Darren is known for his football-related content, having been streaming his experiences while attending football matches for years at this point. He even went to the 2022 Qatar World Cup to watch his idol Cristiano Ronaldo play. On April 17, 2024, he was in attendance at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester to witness the UEFA Champions League Quarter-final match between Real Madrid and Manchester City.

In the first half, the Spanish side went ahead after Rodrygo scored an early goal in the 12th minute. IShowSpeed, who loves football in general, got up from his seat to cheer and erroneously thought it was Vinicius Jr. who had scored. However, he was told to sit down by City fans around him. Here's what he said during the incident:

"Let's go Vini! What? Sit down? But they scored. They telling me to sit down when they score, what? Let's go Rodrygo!"

Someone approached him and asked him to stop cheering for the opposition while he was in a stand that had so many Manchester City fans. IShowSpeed took it in stride and stated:

"Don't cheer Madrid? Go for City? Come one City, come on!"

At this point, another person interrupted the YouTube streamer, telling him to stop the stream entirely:

"Speed, you can't be live. You can't be live."

The two then went on to have a heated verbal exchange, with the 19-year-old streamer claiming that he would end the live stream. He addressed his audience, telling them that he did not want to end his stream, saying:

"Chat, I can't go live, wait I can't show my face. Alright chat, whoa. I have to end stream because me I am live to show my face."

After consulting with his friend, IShowSpeed noted that the reason he was being told to stop streaming was probably because he had cheered for Real Madrid. He stated:

"I don't know what they are mad about, I am literally just showing my face, I don't know but I probably think it's because I cheered for Madrid."

However, readers should note that IShowSpeed continued to livestream from the stand, being a little more careful to not disturb the Manchester City fans around him.
