Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. announced for PC via Steam
Publisher SEGA has confirmed that Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. will arrive on PC sometime this winter (2024). The latest numbered iteration in the long-running 3D arena fighter series will make its PC debut on Steam with this launch. PC players who were interested but never got a chance to enjoy the previously console-only franchise will finally be able to experience it.
While no release date has been confirmed as of this writing, the Steam store page for the game is live, allowing users to wishlist the game. Here's everything fans need to know about this upcoming release.
What is included in Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.?
This is the full Virtua Fighter 5 experience and undoubtedly the best way to relive the classic. Yes, this is not a new game but rather the definitive version of Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown which was released for the arcade and PlayStation 4 platforms back in 2021 — which in turn was a remaster of the original 2006 release.
As such, those expecting the visuals and technical makeup of this nearly 20-year-old title to be on par with modern launches will be disappointed; it is very much a product for fans of the franchise and genre. That does not make it barebones in the features department, however, as original developer studio SEGA AM2 and co-developer Ryu Ga Gotoku studio of Yakuza fame have it all covered,
This "R.E.V.O." version for PC will feature 4K 60 FPS support with high-resolution texture work, while also boasting rollback netcode for seamless online skirmishes. The game's balance has been tweaked and is fully up-to-date, so whether it is an Arcade or a Ranked Match, fans will be getting the best version of the combat gameplay.
Additionally, new online features will allow team-ups with up to 16 players to fight across modes like Tournament and League in order to emerge victorious. This way, returning fans have something new to look forward to. As a side note, the "Ultimate Showdown" PS4 version of the game will also receive a 2.0 Update; it too is planned for this winter.
