Dropping the news out of the blue, Nintendo officially announced Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition for the Nintendo Switch hybrid console. This complete edition of the massive open-world sci-fi JRPG will arrive on March 20, 2025. With this, the cult-classic Nintendo Wii U game will finally reach the popular handheld platform.

Interestingly, it will not just be a straight-up port effort. Here is everything you need to know about Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition completes Monolithsoft's sci-fi trilogy on Nintendo Switch

After clamoring and pleading for a port ever since the Switch launched back in 2017, fans can now rest easy. This will be the best way to experience Xenoblade Chronicles X as players explore the uncharted planet Mira to help flourish a thriving human colony. In addition to enhanced visuals and increased resolution, fans can also look forward to some brand-new story content.

Although the specifics are still under wraps, this ensures double-dippers have something new to look forward to. Originally launched on the Nintendo Wii U home console, Xenoblade Chronicles X was one of the last first-party Nintendo titles made for the ill-fated system.

Once the Nintendo Switch hit shelves, the company ported over several games from the Wii U. These include the likes of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and more. With Xenoblade Chronicles X, nowhere to be seen, fans had given up hope of seeing the game live a second life on the successful Nintendo Switch. However, they need not wait any longer.

Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition will be available exclusively on Nintendo Switch starting March 20, 2025.
