An Indian staple through and through, kabaddi is a sport that has been an integral part of India since its origin. Hence, it is rather surprising that only recently the sport of kabaddi has really taken off in India and continues to grow to this day.

The inception of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) is the biggest reason that kabaddi is such a popular sport in the country today. The league sparked a trend that has held all involved with the relatively obscure sport in good stead and has now entered the race with some of the biggest global phenomenons in the world. The positive response from the Indian public is partly the reason why the league continues to do so well despite being considered essentially a rural sport.

Star Sports, who are the broadcasters and rights holders of the Pro Kabaddi League, along with the league's initial promoters Mashal Sports, could be all set to launch a brand new official Pro Kabaddi mobile game for the very first time in its fledgling history, according to reports.

The organizers are reportedly in talks with various developers and are aiming to come out with a mobile-friendly version of the game in a short while, that will allow users to play as their favourite Pro Kabaddi teams and players.

While there are currently a few video games available to play on smartphones, there is no recognized official video game of the PKL and definitely not one that could threaten the likes of EA Sports FIFA and NBA 2K. However, sources close to Sportskeeda have revealed that the promoters are on the verge of a major breakthrough in this regard and will release a high-quality game based on the league very soon.

All-in-all, signs look positive and as the league continues to amass impressive viewership numbers, the incentive to produce a game grows enormously. Given the dearth of kabaddi games in the market and the surge in the sport's popularity, a top-class and user-friendly mobile game will surely prove to be a masterstroke for the organizers.
