The new Alan Wake 2 Anniversary Update will launch on October 22, 2024, ahead of the Alan Wake 2 The Lake House DLC, which drops the same day at 8 AM PT.

As such, players who have beaten the game and wish to dive into FBC Agent Estevez's horrifying journey inside the titular Lake House on Cauldron Lake can do so with the new settings and additions in tow.

There are a handful of tweaks in the Alan Wake 2 Anniversary Update. Here's a look at them, starting with new control options:

  • Inverted axis for mouse and controller
  • Gyro aiming for DualSense controller (plus refined haptics)

Additionally, a new Gameplay Assist menu will be included that features the following options:

  • Quick turn
  • Auto-complete QTE
  • Button tapping to single-tap
  • Weapon charging with taps
  • Healing items with taps
  • Lightshifter with taps
  • Player invulnerability
  • Player immortality
  • One shot kill
  • Infinite ammo
  • Infinite flashlight batteries

These accessibility changes should make contending with the horrors of the Dark Place more manageable, even to newcomers and non-horror game fans. The Quick Turn should allow players to flee from horrors more easily, while simplified taps reduce the monotony of QTEs, which can be autocompleted if desired.

"God Mode" options, such as invulnerability (taking no damage), immortality (not dying), as well as one-hit kills and infinite ammo and batteries, should help those afraid of the dark make their way confidently through Alan and Saga's newest adventure.

Alan Wake 2 is available on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Epic Games Store).
