For instance, players can take on the most absurd tasks around New Eridu, like scratching tokens from a dog vendor to completing the Hapless Man inquiry at the video store. The latter comes under a series of customer interactions, which must be completed to maintain the reputation of Random Play, at least among the inhabitants of Sixth Street.
To complete the NPC inquiry, you must recommend a correct videotape from the massive collection based on their preference and demand. This guide will help you tackle the Hapless Man inquiry in ZZZ.
How to complete the Hapless Man Inquiry in Zenless Zone Zero
The Hapless Man inquiry could randomly pop up while you operate the video store at Random Play in Zenless Zone Zero. He will talk about his failed investment and further ask for a "tragedy" movie to watch. The ideal recommendation for the Hapless Man inquiry is the Black Tales videotape. The movie can ease him from his misery. However, finding it from a vast inventory could be a tedious task. Fortunately, you can filter all the options on the selection screen.
Just change the genre to Tragic, which will show two options from the list. Make sure to pick the Black Tales instead of Encore. The latter is a level 2 videotape, so it will not fulfill the NPC's desires. Bear in mind that the customer will appear after a while if he is dissatisfied, so choosing the correct movie from the catalog is crucial.

How to get Black Tales videotape in Zenless Zone Zero
Several Level 1 video tapes are unlocked once you get access to the Random Play. However, higher-level movies become available after completing certain quests. In the case of Black Tales, it is unlocked by completing the Black Dance Shoes mission in ZZZ.
To initiate the mini-quest, you must first talk to Anna at the video store. She appears there after you reach Inter-Knot level 39. After interacting with Anna, you will be tasked with completing the Battle Waltz Combat Commission. Use the HDD system to initiate it.
Complete the battle and meet Anna outside the noodle shop to complete the quest. You will also receive Black Tales as a reward.
