F1 champion drops hilarious two-word reaction to McLaren team boss Zak Brown's 'champion' social media post

Former F1 world champion Damon Hill gave a hilarious two-word reaction to McLaren CEO Zak Brown's social media post shared after the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. For the first time since 1998, the Woking-based outfit clinched the Constructor's Championship, beating Ferrari by 14 points.

The British team had a comfortable 21-point cushion over the Italian team heading into the race. However, their aspirations suffered a hitch after Max Verstappen made contact with Oscar Piastri and sent him to the back of the grid. The Aussie was able to recover from the slide and eventually finished P10 with Lando Norris taking the win.

Zak Brown, who took over the team in 2017, was visibly overjoyed with the outcome and even accompanied Norris to the podium. In a post shared on Instagram shortly after the race, Brown was seen making his way to the podium that had 'Champion' written on it.

McLaren CEO gives his take on the "worst two hours" in Abu Dhabi

McLaren CEO Zak Brown said that the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the "worst two hours" of his life, given the stress he experienced during what he felt was a rollercoaster of a race.

Speaking with Sky Sports F1 shortly after, the American opened up about the experience of winning his first title as a team boss and said (as quoted by RacingNews365):

"That was the worst two hours of my life by far," Zak Brown said."Lando drove brilliantly, and it was unfortunate what happened to Oscar at the start, but the team was flawless, and I think I was ready to have a heart attack for two hours."

Praising the British driver for a flawless drive, the 53-year-old added:

"Lando carried us, not making any mistakes, we were worried about safety cars, I was worried about everything, but he drove flawlessly. Next year, we will try and repeat with the constructors' and get the drivers', but I'll let Oscar and Lando figure that out."

McLaren eventually finished the 2024 season with 666 points, six race wins, and 21 podiums. Their drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, finished in P2 and P4 in the driver's championship.
