George Russell's girlfriend Carmen Montero hilariously navigates US coffee culture in Las Vegas
Mercedes driver George Russell's girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt shared her hilarious experience of navigating the American coffee culture during the Las Vegas Grand Prix on the weekend. It was a good evening on Friday night for the British driver as he claimed pole position after looking super competitive throughout the weekend in Sin City.
He looked in control of the W15 in the cold conditions and made full use of the car's ability to switch on the tires on a low grip surface to top the timing sheets. But Russell's girlfriend, who accompanied him this weekend, did not have a smooth time of it while ordering her coffee.
In an Instagram story shared on Sunday, November 24, Carmen Montero Mundt shared her struggles with the US coffee culture as she was left baffled by her Cappuccino order. In her story, she wrote:
"Foam came separately. Stop this nonsense, this is not cappuccino."
However, the 26-year-old's mood seemed to brighten up as George Russell successfully converted his pole position into the third race win of his career and second win this season.
The Mercedes driver did not have any issues leading from the front, despite a lead challenge from his teammate Lewis Hamilton. Montero Mundt posted another Instagram story celebrating Russell's win and wrote:
"Vegas Baby!!"
George Russell reflects on a "surprise" Las Vegas win
Mercedes driver George Russell said that the entire Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend has been a surprise given the performance of the W15.
Speaking in his post-race press conference, the 26-year-old highlighted the car's 'strong pace' and reflected on what was an 'exceptional' run:
"It's been a real surprise seeing how strong our pace has been and securing the pole yesterday I was so pleased," Russell said. "And then I think we won the race in stint one. To be honest, stint one was exceptional. And I knew from there on that the only way we would probably lose the victory was if I grained the tires and opened them up. So it was just a case of managing my pace, managing in the right corners, and bringing it home."
He also commented on the remaining two races of the 2024 season and his expectations from them, adding:
"I think we've got a good shot in Qatar, to be honest. Going into this triple header, I had my sights set on Qatar, even to the point that I wanted to take my freshest engine out and put an old engine in for Vegas, to save my best engine for Qatar. And I'm kind of glad we didn't do that now."
After his victory on Sunday, George Russell extended his lead over his teammate Lewis Hamilton in their bid for P6 in the driver's championship to nine points and would look to build on the gap in the last two races.
