"I couldn't care less" - When Max Verstappen teased Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris over fashion during a 'best dressing sense' question
Max Verstappen was once asked about his opinion on drivers' fashion sense on the grid. Mentioning that it was more of an individual choice, he left a harsh review upon comparing Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris' dress-ups, further mentioning that he did not "care" for fashion.
The F1 Paddock can sometimes be a ramp as drivers arrive at races. Hamilton is perhaps the biggest example of following different fashion styles. He has seemingly influenced other drivers on the grid as well.
Once, Verstappen gave his opinion on the topic. He was asked by a host to choose the best outfit between Hamilton, Norris, and Guanyu Zhou. The Red Bull driver left a quirky reply. He said:
"Depends what you like. I mean I think that looks s***. Everyone has a different style."
Later when asked about his preferences, he said:
"I couldn't care less."
Verstappen is usually seen dressed in his Red Bull Racing attire when on the grid, even during the media days (usually Thursdays). At the same time, some of the drivers follow bold fashion statements.
Max Verstappen on not following fashion statements and dressing up in team gear
As mentioned, the Dutchman is most commonly seen in his team gear when present on the Paddock. Fans have often seen him wearing something different during his iRacing competitions when he's on his racing simulator.
During a team event with his teammate Sergio Perez and VCARB drivers Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo (former), Verstappen discussed wearing the team kit. The drivers were asked who has the "worst" sense of fashion, while others shared a laugh together, Verstappen said:
"I think it just depends on what you like. Well, the thing is I just always walk to the track in team gear, so there's nothing really going on. But there are always people that walk in a little bit differently dressed, I would say, on a Thursday, mainly."
It has been observed that Verstappen mainly focuses on racing. This is the case with pretty much all the drivers on the grid, the 27-year-old seemingly dedicates a big part of his days to racing. When he's not behind the wheel of his Red Bull, he is seen practicing on his simulator, further sharpening his skills on the track.
He is currently leading the F1 drivers' standnigs and could win his fourth consecutive title in Las Vegas if he wins the race. Although Lando Norris has emerged as a contender, the reigning champion has much more grip given his tremendous start to the season.
