Lewis Hamilton “keeping an eye” on Ferrari’s form ahead of 2025 switch

Lewis Hamilton is closely monitoring Scuderia Ferrari's form ahead of his mega switch from Mercedes at the end of this season. The seven-time world champion will move to the Prancing Horse in 2025, marking a new chapter in his illustrious F1 career.

Hamilton signed a multi-year deal with the Italian team earlier this year. According to the contract, the British driver will join the most successful F1 team for a two-year period, with an option to extend the agreement further.

He will join under the leadership of Fred Vasseur, and race alongside Charles Leclerc. The Briton will replace Carlos Sainz, who will move to Williams at the end of this season. As he is all set for the move, Hamilton is already keeping an eye on his future team, and their current form.

"I'm very interested in my future, of course, and so, in that respect, keeping an eye, yeah," Hamilton told the media. "Watching everything that happens. If you look at somewhere like maybe China already, the Red Bull was like a second ahead."
"And it's been quite incredible to see the McLaren rise and then the Ferrari in the last few races, to see their progress and just trying to keep an eye on everyone's car and what they're changing and what they're adding," he added.

Notably, the Prancing Horse has been in scintillating form of late. They have claimed two victories and four podiums in the last three races and recently overtook Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship.

Meanwhile, Hamilton's current team, Mercedes, has been far from brilliant following the summer break. The Silver Arrows claimed three victories prior to the break but have failed to register one since the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix.

In mid-2023, Lewis Hamilton signed a one-plus-one-year contract with Mercedes. However, six months later, he changed his mind and decided to switch to Ferrari in 2025. The sudden nature of the move raised multiple eyebrows as it shocked fans and experts to a great extent.

Days later, Hamilton explained why he decided to part ways with the Silver Arrows even though he had a contract in place.

"In the summer, we signed, and obviously, I, at that time, saw my future with Mercedes. But an opportunity came up in the new year and I decided to take it," Hamilton said. “I feel like… it was obviously the hardest decision that I think I’ve ever had to make."

Hamilton also termed the move as his "childhood dream", something he had been waiting for a long time. Hamilton's move to Ferrari would be a landmark occasion for the sport as it will see the successful driver join the most successful team in Formula 1.
