Lewis Hamilton's pens foreword in Michael Schumacher’s F1 book on the anniversary of Ferrari legend’s first title
Lewis Hamilton wrote the foreword in Michael Schumacher's recently-released book on his championship-winning cars. The book was published in the anniversary month of the German's maiden F1 world championship win.
It has been 30 years since Michael Schumacher first won an F1 world championship. In 1994, the German was with Benetton and faced fierce competition from Damon Hill. He then successfully defended his championship in 1995.
Despite being a defending world champion, he shocked the F1 world by jumping from Benetton to Ferrari in 1996.
From 2000 to 2004, Schumacher and Ferrari dominated the sport, winning five drivers' and constructors' championships. The 2004 F1 world championship was the German's last in the sport, after which he was never able to win another.
As Schumacher earned legendary status in the sport, his cars were praised in the same manner. Many F1 cars that he drove were sold for exorbitant prices at auctions and this book was recently released to celebrate the cars that Schumacher drove to win his seven world championships.
The book is in exceptionally large format and features amazing studio photography of the world champion cars in never-before-seen pictures. This unique biography of the seven-time champion contains the background information of F1 specialist Elmar Brümmer and the personal experiences of Michael Schumacher's manager, Sabine Kehm.
The foreword of the book was written by Lewis Hamilton, who himself has won seven world championships and equalled Schumacher's record. The start of his foreword simply read:
"From one legend to another."
This was of course a nod to both him and Schumacher, who have won the most amount of world championships in the entire history of the sport. Lewis Hamilton continues to drive in F1 and will soon move to Ferrari in 2025, Schumacher's former team. There, Lewis Hamilton will try to break Schumacher's world championship record and win his eighth title.
Lewis Hamilton checked out of the 2024 F1 season after a poor race at Brazilian GP
Lewis Hamilton expressed how his focus has already shifted to next year in Ferrari after a poor race in the 2024 F1 Brazilian GP. Speaking to the media, including Motorsport.com, he said that he does not care where he finishes in the world championship table now since he knew he was not going to win the title this year. He said he was not bothered whether he finished above or below his teammate, George Russell.
In conclusion, the Mercedes driver said that he would simply try to race safely in the last two races in 2024 and try to score some points.
“I just put my focus on something else. I'm not fighting for the championship. Doesn't matter, really, where we finish in the championship. I don't care if I finish ahead of [team-mate] George [Russell] or behind George. It doesn't make any difference to me," Hamilton said.
He added:
"I just want to keep the car out the wall and try to score points if I can for the team, if I can finish, whatever. If they give me a car that doesn't bounce off the track in the next few races, then hopefully we can get a better result. But yeah, looking forward to Christmas,” he added.
Lewis Hamilton will end his 12-year-old bond with Mercedes after 2024 and move to Ferrari. He will drive alongside Charles Leclerc next year.
