Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc spotted partying together after the 2024 F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen and Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc were spotted partying together after the end of the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It was the tale of two ends for the duo as the Monagasque was able to make his way through the field to finish on the podium from the back of the grid while the four-time F1 world champion slid into P6 after starting from P4.
The Dutch driver had a lot to celebrate this year given that he wrapped his fourth successive F1 title in arguably the third fastest car and also announced in Abu Dhabi that he will become a father next year.
Leclerc too had a successful campaign as he finished 2024 with three wins and claimed his highest points tally in F1 with 356 points. A fan account on social media posted a video of Verstappen and Leclerc partying after wrapping their 2024 campaigns in Abu Dhabi at the same club.
Speaking with Sky Sports F1, Max Verstappen mentioned that he had already apologized to McLaren driver Oscar Piastri for their Lap 1 collision and said:
"I apologized to Oscar. I never want to crash with anyone, especially not Oscar who is a great guy. I went up the inside because we had a really good launch but then I realized that it was going to be tight at the apex.
"I tried to stay on the kerb but unfortunately we clipped with the tires, hooked each other and both spun. It's not great, as simple as that. After that, we had a tough race. We had no pace, or at least not enough pace to challenge the top guys. We were stuck in that position."
Max Verstappen gives his take on his P6 at the Abu Dhabi GP
Red Bull driver Max Verstappen believed that there wasn't much to fight for the team in the main race at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday evening, given that he had already won the championship and the Austrian team was not in contention for the constructor's title.
As per F1.com, the 27-year-old reflected:
"It has been a long season and there wasn’t a lot for us to fight for today. I’m looking forward to the break, I’m going to switch off, relax and spend some much-needed time with friends and family. We have things to work on for next year and already have good ideas but we will see when we get into the car next year.
"I want to thank the Team for the season, it has been a long one but we have stuck together and ultimately to come away with a Drivers’ Championship has been fantastic.”
Max Verstappen finished the 2024 season with nine wins, 14 podiums, and 437 points to his name.
