Max Verstappen snaps back at 'he should start doing comedy' remark from Lando Norris
Max Verstappen has snapped at Lando Norris' remark that he should start doing comedy by claiming that he knows perfectly well what he can and cannot do. The two drivers battled for the title this season which began with Red Bull enjoying a significant lead over rivals.
That helped Max Verstappen to gain an early lead over rivals as until F1 went to Miami, the Dutch driver had dropped only one race in Melbourne thanks to a reliability issue. The upgrade in Miami helped McLaren improve performance and close the gap to Red Bull.
As the season progressed, it became clear that Max Verstappen did not have the fastest car on the grid anymore. The Dutch driver methodically managed his lead and ended up sealing the title in Las Vegas. After clinching his fourth successive title, the driver was questioned whether he could have won the title in a McLaren that Lando Norris had, to which the driver replied in the affirmative and even said that he would have done it sooner.
On Thursday, Norris was told about Verstappen's comments to which he said that the Red Bull should do comedy. When asked to respond to the McLaren driver's comments, Max said that he knows what he can and cannot do. He told the media including Sportskeeda,
"No, but no-one needs to respond. I know perfectly well what I can and cannot do."
When questioned if Lando Norris had been gracious in his defeat against Max Verstappen, the Dutch driver said that they did not
needed to talk about that. He said,
Verstappen sidestepped the question.
"We don't need to talk about that. We don't need to spend time on trying to slag people off or whatever. The championship is done. We try again next year."
What Lando Norris had said about Max Verstappen's comment
Lando Norris was not in agreement with Max Verstappen when it came to the claims made by the Dutch driver that he would win the title in a McLaren. The Brit was questioned about the claims made by the Red Bull driver to which he said that Max should start doing comedy.
The driver further said that Verstappen can say anything he wants but he doesn't agree with it. He said,
“He should start doing comedy or something. He can say whatever he wants. Of course, I completely disagree, as I would. He’s good, but yeah, it’s not true.”
The two drivers have been friends off the track in general but this season the on-track battles and the fact that there was a title on the line has led to a bit of a needle between the two. The way the relationship evolves is something that quite a few would be keeping an eye on.
