Pictures: Sauber F1 driver clicked with Tennis superstars Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz
Sauber F1 driver Zhou Guanyu recently met with tennis superstars, Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz. The Chinese racer took pictures with both athletes during the ATP Shanghai Masters 2024.
Since there is a four-week-long break between Singapore and the US GP, many F1 drivers have returned to their hometowns or taken a vacation to relax and recharge for the rest of the six races in the 2024 F1 season. This also includes Zhou Guanyu, who returned to his hometown Shanghai.
On his official Instagram handle, the Sauber driver posted a group of pictures to share what he has been doing these past few weeks. The post starts with pictures of him with 24-time Grand Slam winner, Novak Djokovic and also four-time Grand Slam winner, Carlos Alcaraz.
The pictures also showcase that Zhou Guanyu received a signed shirt from Djokovic, while the Serbian tennis player received a miniature helmet the F1 driver wore in this year's Chinese GP.
Apart from meeting two of the top tennis players, Guanyu also met with Chinese players Zhizhen Zhang and Shang Juncheng and took pictures with them.
As of now, both Zhang and Juncheng have been eliminated from the ATP Shanghai Masters 2024. On the other hand, both Djokovic and Alcaraz have progressed to the Round of 16 matches.
Sauber F1 driver Zhou Guanyu gifts Novak Djokovic a miniature helmet he wore during the 2024 Chinese GP
Sauber F1 driver Zhou Guanyu recently met tennis superstar Novak Djokovic and gave him a miniature helmet from his 2024 Chinese GP race as a gift.
The official X handle of the Shanghai Masters posted a video of Zhou giving the gift to Djokovic when they met during the ATP Shanghai Masters 2024. The F1 driver showed the helmet and explained how it contained Shanghai's tube transportation map all around it with landmarks. He further showed the artwork which was a nod to his first visit to a Chinese GP as a kid.
Novac Djokovic graciously accepted the gift from the Sauber driver and thanked him wholeheartedly.
"That is fantastic, wow thank you very much! This is a precious gift!"
After accepting the gift, the 24-time Grand Slam winner also gifted Zhou Guanyu a signed t-shirt of his before parting ways.
When it comes to racing in F1, Zhou has been struggling quite a lot at Sauber. He has not been able to score a single point in the 2024 season yet. His teammate, Valtteri Bottas, has also not been able to score a point. Hence, their team also sits last in the constructors' standings with zero points.
