"Still riding that high": Kelly Piquet's social media post after Max Verstappen's F1 Brazilian GP win
Max Verstappen's girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, recently posted a bunch of pictures of the 2024 F1 Brazilian GP on her Instagram account. The Dutch driver drove an excellent race at Interlagos and won after starting from P17.
The reason why the Red Bull star started the race from so far down was because of a five-place grid penalty for a power unit element change and a poor qualifying session. In qualifying's Q2 session, Verstappen was disallowed to clock a fast lap after Lance Stroll lost control of his car and brought out a red flag.
In the race, however, the three-time world champion charged through the pack and quickly arrived near the top. After the first rounds of pitstops, Franco Colapinto crashed, causing a red flag. Since Verstappen did not pit during the regular window, it gave him a massive position advantage during the red flag since he was P2. After the restart, he overtook Alpine's Esteban Ocon and won the race.
After the race, he celebrated the win with his team, and partner Kelly Piquet. Recently, the Brazilian model posted several pictures and clips of the race weekend on her Instagram account. There were several close-ups of the couple celebrating together and random pictures and clips of Verstappen celebrating and his friends in Parc Ferme.
One of the pictures was of Max Verstappen with the Piquet family, which consisted of Kelly Piquet, Nelson Piquet Sr., and Nelson Piquet Jr. This means that the entire Piquet family was present at the Brazilian GP's F1 paddock.
Max Verstappen extended his lead in the 2024 F1 drivers' championship table with his monumental win at Interlagos. His title battle with McLaren's Lando Norris continues as the 2024 season gradually ends.
Max Verstappen's initial thoughts after winning the Brazilian GP
Max Verstappen recently expressed his feelings after winning the Brazilian GP. This win at Interlagos broke his 10-winless race drought.
In an interview with Parc Ferme immediately following the race, the Red Bull driver described the Brazilian GP weekend as a roller coaster for him because he had a bad qualifying performance but a great race. The Dutchman commended his team's pitstop tactics and choices that enabled him to win the race, even if he did not anticipate doing so from P17.
“My emotions today have been a rollercoaster. You know, with qualifying, being really unlucky with that red flag and starting P17, I knew that it was going to be a very tough race. But we stayed out of trouble, we made the right calls, we stayed calm and we were fine. All of these things together of course made that result possible. I mean, unbelievable to win here from so far back," Verstappen said.
Max Verstappen currently leads the drivers' championship table with 393 points, while Lando Norris is in second place with 331 points.
