Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz kept his promise to Kick Sauber driver Guanyu Zhou after losing his bet with the Chinese driver at the end of the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Spanish driver departed from the Italian team at the end of the race on Sunday evening as he managed to finish on P2 behind the race winner Lando Norris.
Bidding farewell to his team, the Spaniard was reminded of the promise he made ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix. The four-time race winner had said that he would wear the chili costume if the Chinese driver scored:
"I can make a bet. If Zhou gets a point before the season ends with Sauber, I will take a picture with this on."
Zhou scored points in the race in Lusail where he finished in P8 and took home four points for the team. In a video uploaded by F1 on their social media platform, X, after the race in Abu Dhabi, Zhou Guanyu called on to the Ferrari hospitality area where he helped Carlos Sainz get into the Chili costume.
He and the Williams F1 bound driver later took a picture together to honor the bet as both drivers left their respective teams.

"The last time that I would jump in a Ferrari car, probably, and I was just feeling emotional. I tried to remind myself to try and enjoy the race as much as possible and to give the absolute maximum for this team."
He also spoke about his motivation to drive the Williams F1 team forward from next year as he gets in the car in the post-season Abu Dhabi test, adding.
"I'm extremely motivated for the challenge that I have ahead of me. Today is a day to try and enjoy as much as possible with the team as my last day in red. Obviously, my competitive mind is already looking forward to Monday and Tuesday and to see how I can make that Williams car faster."
