Watch: Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz make an appearance on the premiere of Hollywood movie 'Gladiator'
Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were spotted at the world premiere of the film 'Gladiator-II' at Leicester Square on November 14. The Hollywood epic is a sequel to the Academy Award-winning film released in 2000, which depicted the lives of Gladiators in the Roman Empire.
The Italian team has partnered alongside Hollywood production company Paramount Pictures which made Gladiator-II. The two F1 drivers were spotted at the premiere and wore custom-made Ferrari suits on the red carpet where they were interviewed by Sky Sports's Craig Slater.
While Charles Leclerc admitted that he had recently seen the original film, Carlos Sainz spoke about his experience of watching the Russell Crowe-starrer and said:
"Gladiator I is a legendary movie that I watched as a kid and I've watched it another few times. It makes you realize what a good film it is and I'm keen to see what happens in the second one."
In a clip floating on social media, the two Ferrari drivers were joined by the main lead of Gladiator-II Paul Mescal, who spoke bout his preparation for the role but was raving about his experience in the F1 paddock in Austin, saying:
"I played a lot of Gaelic football growing up but also like to be in the paddock for Austin like I hope I surprised the boys with a little bit of my knowledge for it. I was asking them hopefully nerdy questions.
"But yeah like to be in any contact with any sport I love to kind of get a peak behind the curtain and these two are some of the best in the game," he added.
Charles Leclerc gives his take on Ferrari's chances at Las Vegas
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc stated that he was confident about the Italian team's chances going into the Las Vegas Grand Prix next weekend. He claimed that they might not perform as well as they did last year, given their issues in warming up the tires in colder conditions.
As per Motorsport.com, the eight-time race winner said:
"We were very strong last year, so I hope we can be as strong. It is true also, and I was thinking about that earlier, that this year we've made a big step in tire management, which means that we also left something behind in cold conditions. Las Vegas is a bit of that scenario as well.
"So, let's hope we can work in those two weeks to prepare it properly and be at a good level in Las Vegas. We were very strong last year; the characteristics of the track are better for our car," he added.
Charles Leclerc took the pole position last year in Las Vegas and came agonizingly close to winning the race as he finished behind Max Verstappen.
The Scuderia are currently P2 in the Constructors Championships as they trail McLaren by 36 points with just three races and one Sprint remaining in the 2024 season. The Maranello-based outfit has to inflict maximum damage on the Woking-based team in Vegas given the gap between the two.
