Big Bash League (BBL 2018/19): Adelaide Strikers vs. Hobart Hurricanes, Dream11 Today Match Prediction, Playing XI Updates & Fantasy Cricket Tips - January 21st, 2019
Fans could not have asked for more than to start the week with BBL 2017-18 finalists, Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers pit their wits against each other in what promises to be a highly competitive encounter.
While Adelaide has underperformed to a certain extent this year, Hurricanes have been dominant in their run to the top of the table. The likes of Darcy Short and George Bailey have propelled Hobart to the top of the table but will have their task cut out against a formidable Strikers' bowling led by the inspirational, Rashid Khan.
Squads to choose from:
Adelaide Strikers:
Wes Agar, Alex Carey, Michael Cormack, David Grant, Travis Head, Colin Ingram, Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Michael Neser, Liam O'Connor, Peter Siddle, Matt Short, Billy Stanlake, Cameron Valente, Jake Weatherald, Jon Wells, Nick Winter, Harry Nielsen.
Hobart Hurricanes:
Jofra Archer, George Bailey, Johan Botha, Alex Doolan, Jake Doran, James Faulkner, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Simon Milenko, Tymal Mills, David Moody, Tim Paine, Tom Rogers, Clive Rose, D'Arcy Short, Aaron Summers, Matthew Wade
Playing XI Updates:
Adelaide Strikers:
Alex Carey and Billy Stanlake are back for the Strikers which make this a blockbuster match. Both of them have had great experiences against the Hurricanes with Carey's only hundred coming against the Hurricanes. With the captain, Travis Head leaving for test duties, the Strikers should be able to field a stronger team than the one that lost to the Thunder.
Possible XI: Weatherald, Carey(WK), Ingram(C), Short, Wells, Lehmann, Neser, Rashid, Laughlin, Stanlake and O'Connor.
Hobart Hurricanes:
James Faulkner lived up to his once foregone moniker of "The Finisher" with a stunning assault to take Hobart over the line. No changes are expected from the Hurricanes with Caleb Jewell doing exceptionally well with a quick fire 32 against the Scorchers. Riley Meredith has been their standout bowler and will once again be the one to watch out for.
Possible XI: Wade(WK&C), Short, Jewell, McDermott, Bailey, Milenko, Faulkner, Botha, Moody, Archer and Meredith.
Fantasy Tips and Suggestions:
Wicket-keeper: Both Carey and Wade are in good form although Carey has had a forgetful ODI series where he couldn't capitalize on starts. Matthew Wade should be preferred over Carey although the South Australian is also a good option to buy.
Batsmen: D'Arcy Short had a rare off-day against the Scorchers and would be the prime candidate to score big runs. Caleb Jewell and Jake Weatherald are also viable options with Weatherald's last outing against the Hurricanes resulting in a stunning hundred in the final of last year's BBL. Ben McDermott has been lukewarm this year and should be back for this crucial tie.
All-rounders: Michael Neser and James Faulkner have been fairly good with the ball with the Tasmanian, Faulkner having a great day against the Scorchers. Both of them along with Matthew Short are great picks to get into your fantasy side.
Bowlers: Riley Meredith has been in great form over the course of the BBL. He has been the breakout star of BBL 2018-19 and should be one of the first names on the team sheet. Two of Rashid Khan, Billy Stanlake and Ben Laughlin should complete the team bringing in good balance to the side in terms of points and credits.
Captain: D'Arcy Short and Jake Weatherald are the prime contenders with both left-handers in good form as well. Short is leading the run-scorer charts this season and his bowling is an added boost as well.
Fantasy Suggestion #1: Matthew Wade(WK), D'Arcy Short, Ben McDermott, Caleb Jewell, Jake Weatherald, Matthew Short, Michael Neser, Jimmy Faulkner, Rashid Khan, Billy Stanlake and Riley Meredith. Captain: D'Arcy Short
Fantasy Suggestion #2: Alex Carey(WK), Ben McDermott, Caleb Jewell, Colin Ingram, Jake Weatherald, Michael Neser, Jimmy Faulkner, Rashid Khan, Jofra Archer, Riley Meredith, and Ben Laughlin. Captain: Jake Weatherald
