Big Bash League (BBL 2018/19): Match 47, Hobart Hurricanes vs Adelaide Strikers, Dream11 Prediction, Playing XI Updates & Fantasy Cricket Tips - January 31st, 2019
With only a handful of games left in the Big Bash League 2018-19 season, Hobart Hurricanes have seemingly booked a semi-final spot with a brutal nine-wicket over Brisbane Heat with the defending champions Adelaide Strikers next in their sight.
The scenario is far from ideal for the men from Adelaide as they need to win each of their next three fixtures and hope for other results to go their way. With a lot at stake for Adelaide, the final match at Launceston is sure to be a cracker.
Squads to choose from
Hobart Hurricanes:
Jofra Archer, George Bailey, Jarrod Freeman, Alex Doolan, Jake Doran, James Faulkner, Caleb Jewell, Ben McDermott, Riley Meredith, Simon Milenko, Tymal Mills, David Moody, Tim Paine, Tom Rogers, Clive Rose, D'Arcy Short, Aaron Summers, Matthew Wade
Adelaide Strikers:
Wes Agar, Alex Carey, Michael Cormack, David Grant, Travis Head, Colin Ingram, Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Michael Neser, Liam O'Connor, Peter Siddle, Matt Short, Billy Stanlake, Cameron Valente, Jake Weatherald, Jon Wells, Nick Winter, Harry Nielsen.
Playing XI Updates
Hobart Hurricanes:
After a blitzkrieg from south-paws D'Arcy Short and Caleb Jewell saw the Hurricanes blow past the Heat, no changes are expected from the table-toppers.
Riley Meredith will be out for this game due to illness and has been replaced by Tom Rogers in the side, although he should just serve as back up for Moody.
Possible XI: Short, Wade(C&WK), Jewell, McDermott, Bailey, Milenko, Faulkner, Freeman, Archer, Rose and Moody.
Adelaide Strikers:
After a poor run of form, Matthew Short has been omitted from the squad altogether with Harry Nielsen being recalled.
Peter Siddle is also unavailable due to national duty and should be replaced in the side by either O'Connor or Wes Agar. The onus is on Jake Weatherald and Alex Carey to provide a good start in what is a do-or-die game for the defending champions.
Possible XI: Carey(WK), Weatherald, Lehmann, Ingram(C), Wells, Valente, Rashid, Neser, O'Connor, Stanlake and Laughlin
Fantasy Tips and Suggestions
Wicket-keeper: Matthew Wade has been in extraordinary form which has seen him score in excess of 300 runs this season but considering the impact of Alex Carey on the Strikers, he should be the ideal candidate to back for this crucial match.
Carey was unfortunate in the previous match and with a longer stay at the crease, he could cause havoc against a team he has a century against in BBL-7
Batsmen: The last three encounters between the two teams has seen the openers steal the show with Short and Wade sharing an unbeaten 150 run stand to decimate the Strikers.
Jake Weatherald and D'Arcy Short are great options to go by along with the likes of Ben McDermott and Colin Ingram. Jonathan Wells could also have a say in the match with his good run of form.
All-rounders: Jimmy Faulkner and Michael Neser are the only options available to fantasy players and with both players contributing with bat and bowl, they are the more than just decent picks to choose.
Bowlers: Two out of Rashid Khan, Ben Laughlin and Billy Stanlake should suffice along with Jofra Archer and David Moody. Moody has been impressive in his two games so far and should be backed for another good outing.
All eyes are upon Rashid, who hasn't been at his best in recent games.
Captain: Alex Carey and Ben McDermott are the ideal choices with their ability to go big and rotate the strike as well. Both of them have been in good touch but haven't converted them, which shouldn't be the case if they get going on Thursday.
Other options include Rashid Khan and D'Arcy Short.
Fantasy Suggestion #1: Alex Carey (WK), Jake Weatherald, Colin Ingram, George Bailey, Ben McDermott, Jimmy Faulkner, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan, Billy Stanlake, Jofra Archer and David Moody. Captain: Alex Carey.
Fantasy Suggestion #2: Alex Carey(WK), D'Arcy Short, Ben McDermott, Jonathan Wells, Jake Lehmann, Jimmy Faulkner, Michael Neser, Jofra Archer, David Moody, Ben Laughlin and Rashid Khan. Captain: Ben McDermott
