MSL 2018 runners-up Cape Town Blitz are back in action as they host Nelson Mandela Bay Giants on Friday. Both teams have impressed this season with the likes of Dale Steyn and Imran Tahir starring for their respective teams.

While Cape Town Blitz have won four out of their eight games, Nelson Mandela Bay Giants are perched at the top of the points table, with a win from this game certain to hand them a confirmed spot in the knockout stages.

The previous game between the two sides saw the Bay Giants beat Quinton de Kock and co by five wickets, courtesy of a Jon Jon Smuts special. Another such performance would be expected from the Bay Giants, although the Cape Town Blitz unit cannot be taken lightly.

With both sides being evenly matched on paper, another competitive and entertaining game is on the cards. Here are a few tips to help you pick your Dream11 team for CTB vs NMG.

Squads to choose from

Cape Town Blitz

Quinton de Kock (C), Wahab Riaz, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, Janneman Malan, Dale Steyn, Sisanda Magala, Anrich Nortje, Asif Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, George Linde, David Bedingham, Vernon Philander, Marques Ackerman, Gregory Mahlokwana, Aviwe Mgijima, Khwezi Gumede

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants

J J Smuts (C), Jason Roy, Farhaan Behardien, Imran Tahir, Chris Morris, Junior Dala, Beuran Hendricks, Matthew Breetzke, One Nyaku, Ben Dunk, Heino Kuhn, Marco Marais, Grant Thomson, Akhona Mnyaka, Nandre Burger and Dyllan Matthews

Playing XI Updates

Cape Town Blitz

With this being a must-win game for the Blitz, they should field an unchanged side for this encounter. While Quinton de Kock has chipped in with a few cameos, David Bedingham and Janneman Malan have done the bulk of the run-scoring so far.

Liam Livingstone has also impressed with his big-hitting ability with 198 runs to his name. Although Cape Town Blitz are visibly light on batting resources on paper, Vernon Philander and Mohammad Nawaz are capable of scoring quick runs towards the end with Wahab Riaz and Aviwe Mgijima also in their ranks.

Dale Steyn has been the standout bowler in MSL 2019 as he leads the wicket-takers charts with 15 wickets. He is crucial to their fortunes along with Nortje and Riaz on Friday.

Possible XI: de Kock (C & WK), Malan, Bedingham, Livingstone, Philander, Mgijima, Nawaz, Riaz, Nortje, Steyn and Magala.

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants

Like their opponents, Nelson Mandela Bay Giants should also field an unchanged side if Jason Roy is not fit. He was left out in the previous game and could possibly return for Matthew Breetzke, who has endured a dismal MSL 2019 campaign so far.

Their batting unit is in decent form with Smuts and Dunk putting in consistent performances. The emergence of Marco Marais also bodes well for them although it is their bowling unit that has led the way for them.

Imran Tahir has picked 12 wickets so far and has been well complemented by Junior Dala and Chris Morris. With ample balance in the playing XI, Nelson Mandela Bay Giants will fancy their chances against the Blitz.

Possible XI: Roy/Breetzke, Dunk (WK), Smuts(C), Kuhn, ten Doeschate, Marais, Morris, Mnyaka, Dala, Tahir and Hendricks.

Newlands, Cape Town

Pitch report

The previous game at this venue saw a competitive contest between bat and ball. The batsmen had to work hard for their runs with the ball holding a bit. A similar type of a wicket is expected although it should even up nicely with the match being played under lights. Teams will prefer chasing with their being no chance of rainfall during the course of the game.

Fantasy Tips and Suggestions

Wicket-keeper: Quinton de Kock hasn't scored a fifty yet but boasts of a strike rate in excess of 150. He is due for a big knock for the Blitz and should be picked alongside Heino Kuhn. David Bedingham has scored 97 runs in his two outings for CTB so far and could be picked as the third wicket-keeper in the fantasy side as well.

Batsmen: Janneman Malan and Ben Dunk are in brilliant form off late. With 298 and 278 runs respectively, both of them occupy the top two spots on the run-scorer charts. Along with the two openers, Jon Jon Smuts is also a viable candidate with his bowling prowess also bound to come in handy in the middle overs for Nelson Mandela Bay Giants.

Allrounders: Liam Livingstone has tailed off after a bright start to his MSL career. Nevertheless, he is still a must-have in the side with the Englishman scoring 198 runs, including 15 sixes as well. Chris Morris is another decent pick with the lanky pacer chipping in with vital cameos as well. Both Livingstone and Morris should suffice in the allrounders department with the possible addition of Mohammad Nawaz also being a viable one.

Bowlers: Dale Steyn is another must-have in the side with the veteran pacer picking the most wickets in MSL 2019 so far. He should add a wicket or two to his tally of fifteen as he is picked alongside Imran Tahir and Wahab Riaz. One of Junior Dala or Beuran Hendricks should suffice in rounding the fantasy team for this game.

Captain: Quinton de Kock should be backed with the mantle of captaincy to make amends for his relatively underwhelming performances in MSL 2019. While Nelson Mandela Bay Giants captain, JJ Smuts is also a dependable player for the multiplier options, Liam Livingstone also fits the bill with his big-hitting ability.

Fantasy Suggestion #1: Heino Kuhn, Quinton de Kock, JJ Smuts, Ben Dunk, Janneman Malan, Chris Morris, Liam Livingstone, Imran Tahir, Beuran Hendricks, Dale Steyn and Sisanda Magala. Captain: Quinton de Kock, Vice-Captain: JJ Smuts

Fantasy Suggestion #2: Quinton de Kock, Heino Kuhn, JJ Smuts, Marco Marais, Janneman Malan, Chris Morris, Liam Livingstone, Imran Tahir, Junior Dala, Dale Steyn and Wahab Riaz. Captain: Liam Livingstone, Vice-Captain: JJ Smuts
